Two games left before the Kansas Jayhawks are in the Final Four. But before we jump ahead, the Hawks first have to get through the Sweet 16 in St. Louis. Check out pictures from practice in St. Louis The men's basketball teams started practicing Thursday at the Edward R. Jones dome Thursday afternoon. This is KU's 28th Sweet 16 out of 41 years in the tournament. While the team practiced shots in a new arena, they also thought about the women Jayhwaks also preparing for a Sweet 16 game in Des Moines.

You can take the kid out of Kansas. But you can't take the Kansas Basketball fan out of the Kansas Kid. With NASCAR taking the weekend off of Easter, you can be sure that Clint Bowyer will be catching up on his favorite team, the Kansas Jayhawks. "I would give anything to be watching and being around -- especially the tournament games," said Bowyer "It's so much fun. Everybody that works for me went to Kansas State or is a K State fan. Casey (brother) and I are the lone wolf KU fans, so it's been fun to follow them.

It's a game that most Jayhawks fans would rather forget, but also one that Kansas Jayhawks players need to remember so they can avoid repeating their mistakes. The Jayhawks (7-3) will play the team's first true road game of the season Thursday night at the University of Southern California (5-7). Kansas lost to Davidson this past Monday, 80-74, at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Playing from behind for the entire game Bill Self's team could never make the comeback happen.

Tyshawn Taylor hopes that you really can go home, or at least close to home. The KU senior grew up just across the East River from New York City in Hoboken, NJ - tonight he leads his Kansas Jayhawks into Madison Square Garden to face #2 Kentucky. The Wildcats feature six freshman, Head Coach John Calipari jokes that he's spent so much time putting in basic sets that he hasn't even had time to work on inbounds plays. Kansas won their opening game over Towson State 100-58, behind 18 points and 11 rebounds from Thomas Robinson. Kentucky beat Marist by 50 points in their opener, getting 23 points and 10 rebounds from 6'11” Anthony Davis.

Kansas Jayhawks' point guard Angel Goodrich will head just a few hours down the road to play professional basketball. On Monday night Goodrich was taken by Tulsa with the 30th overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft. The 13th ranked Kansas Jayhawks (6-2) were able to hold off a late surge from Long Beach State (4-4) to hold on and beat the 49'ers 88-80 at Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. Kansas forward Thomas Robinson and guard Connor Teahan were on fire in the first half, combining to score the Jayhawks' first 14 points of the game. Robinson was a perfect 8 of 8 from the field in the first half and scored 18 points. Teahan added 12 on 4 of 5 shooting from the floor. The Jayhawks held a 51-39 lead at halftime but started getting sloppy in the second 20 minutes. Overall Kansas turned the ball over 21 times and saw their one-time 19 point lead cut down to 4 in the final two minutes of the ball game.

Despite losing four of their top-five leading scorers from the 2010-11 Big 12 Champion squad, the Kansas Jayhawks earned five first-place votes en route to being voted to win the 2012 conference in the Big 12 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference office announced Thursday. Kansas will share the designation of being preseason favorite with Texas A&M. It marks the second time in league history (KU, Oklahoma State in 2004-05) that two squads tied for the top spot in the preseason poll.

by Cliff Judy The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament was quite literally a slam dunk for the Kansas Jayhawks. Two wins in three days put the crimson and blue into the Sweet 16. If you go to your local newsstand, though, you'll find a problem. Sports Illustrated's new issue has six different regional cover shots. The issues being sold in Kansas feature the Jayhawks' Brandon Rush. A long-standing superstition shows players and teams featured on the SI cover often quickly run out of luck.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets used a combination of big plays and a stifling running attack to set the tone Saturday afternoon, defeating the Kansas Jayhawks 66-24. In an impressive offensive display, the Yellow Jackets collected a total of 604 rush yards and 164 pass yards, which combined for the most offensive yards ever given up by a Kansas defense. Kansas drops to 2-1 overall, while Georgia Tech improves to 3-0. The Jayhawks finished with 362 total yards of offense, compared to 768 for the Yellow Jackets.

Coach Bill Self announced on Friday that the Kansas Jayhawks have added transfer Hunter Mickelson to the team. Self also said in a teleconference on Friday that he will definitely be searching for an outside hire to replace assistant coach Joe Dooley who left KU to become the head coach at Florida Gulf Coast. Self added that he's unsure if Doc Sadler will remain with the Jayhawks.
