A driver is hurt after crashing his car in the westbound lane of Kellogg Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses tell police a man in his early twenties was speeding on Kellogg and weaving through traffic... before he lost control of his car just west of Woodlawn. The driver then hit a barrier wall and rolled his car before it landed upside down. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Kellogg was shut down for about two hours last night while crews cleaned up the road.

Wichita police believe a man who was hit by an SUV while crossing Kellogg was drinking. The crash happened Thursday evening on Kellogg near Dugan. Wichita police say the man was trying to cross the highway when he was hit by a woman in an SUV. They say the woman could not avoid hitting the man. Pedestrians are not allowed on that part of the highway. Investigators say the man was taken to a Wichita hospital with a crushed pelvis. They believe he had been drinking.

Some good news for Wichita drivers, southbound Seneca at Kellogg is now open. It has been closed since November 28 for replacement of a girder and installation of concrete for the Kellogg bridge above Seneca.  Seneca will be closed for one day on Thursday, December 15 to allow the removal of the concrete forms. The westbound Kellogg bridge has been reduced to two lanes since it was damaged on November 16.  It will be completely reopened after the concrete has cured, which is expected to occur before Christmas.

LATEST UPATE - 7:10 pm: K-DOT says the ramps at I-135 and Kellogg have reopened to traffic. By Kara Sewell (WICHITA, Kan.) According to Tom Hein with the Kansas Department of Transportation the ramps at I-135 and Kellogg will open sometime Friday evening. Despite the freshly poured concrete, the ramps from Interstate 135 to Kellogg in Wichita will remain closed, much to the dismay of some drivers. "It's not bad if you know how to get back around to second street or first street or down to Lincoln instead," explained driver Clayton Gossett. Map - Location of Construction Keep taking those back roads. Even though the ramps are paved, there's still a lot of work to be done on the bridges above the ramps, not to mention all the areas around it.      And the contracted construction crews have until October second to get it all done -- per the agreement it made with the state.

Crews are busy cleaning up nails that spilled along Kellogg earlier today.  Sedgwick County Dispatchers tell us they received several calls for drivers along Kellogg. The nails apparently fell off of a truck on westbound Kellogg.  Reports of nails came in from Washington Street all the way to West Street.

Traveling on eastbound Kellogg could get a little tricky next week. Start Monday, Kellogg will be down to two lanes between Rock Road and 143rd Street East. Crews will close a different half mile each day to take soil samples. The information will be used to help determine the future of the highway. Sampling is expected to wrap up on Saturday

The southbound ramps from I-135 to east and westbound Kellogg are back open. KDOT says the northbound ramps should reopen sometime Friday evening. The ramps have been alternately closed for the past year and a half.

Wichita Police say a child between two and three-years-old was found wandering near Kellogg and Hoover. A couple noticed the child, picked it up and took it to a nearby hotel to locate the parents. The child is not injured. It is unknown if parents have been contacted at this time.

Two women are taken to the hospital after and accident on east bound Kellogg. The car went off the road and down the embankment. It stopped after hitting a pole. One woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, the other in serious condition. Expect more updates on kwch.com as we get them.

A 37-year-old Valley Center man is dead after crashing at I-235 and Kellogg early Tuesday morning. Police said Brian Badders was driving west on Kellogg around 2 a.m. when, for some reason, he struck the guardrail.  His truck launched off the bridge and flew nearly 200 feet before hitting the ground. Badders died at the scene. Traffic in that area was shut down for hours following the crash.  Crews had to repair a portion of the guard rail. The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police think speed may have been a factor.  A toxicology report will determine if he was impaired.

Several vehicles were involved in an accident that brought traffic to a halt Saturday evening. It happened in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg near the turnpike exit around 5:35 p.m. It is unknown how the accident occurred, but three cars were damaged in the crash. Three people also received minor injuries. One of the victims was a little boy that was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Authorities diverted traffic on Rock Road for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.

Two men are recovering from injuries after a wrong-way crash closed a portion of Kellogg overnight. It happened on U.S. 54, just west of Oliver, around 1 a.m. Saturday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Dennis Haynes, Jr., 40, was driving his SUV east in the westbound lanes, when he struck a van head on. Haynes, of Wichita, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the van, 37-year-old Christopher Asbell, of Park City, was also hurt. Hospital officials tell Eyewitness News both men are listed in fair condition.

Construction work in an east Wichita parking lot caused a gas line break, forcing officials to close off the area for a few hours. It happened at Grove's Liquor, near Kellogg and Webb around 5 p.m. Saturday. Dispatchers said crews were working in the parking lot, when they struck a pipe while digging.  No one was hurt. Officials closed traffic on eastbound Kellogg while crews repaired the ruptured gas line. Turnpike authorities also diverted traffic on I-35 at the Kellogg exit ramp due to the leak.

Two people are killed, another hospitalized after a crash in E. Wichita early this morning. It happened at Kellogg and Webb Road just after 3:00 am. Police at the scene say a pickup was speeding when it slammed into a utility pole. The truck hit with so much force, it ripped off the passenger side of the truck, and the roof. "The speeds were estimated anywhere from 65 to 90 miles per hour at the time impact," said Wichita Police Lieutenant Joe Schroeder. Two passengers, ages 50 and 34, were thrown from the pickup and pronounced dead at the scene.

Wichita police are investigating after a man's window is shot out while he was driving Monday afternoon.  Police say the 38-year-old man was turning from Meridian to get onto Kellogg at around 1:55 Monday afternoon when, all of a sudden, his driver-side window shattered.   The man pulled over to try and figure out what happened. Officials showed up and found damage consistent with a bullet striking the window.  They looked closer and found bullet fragments among the window debris inside the car. Police don't know where the bullet came from or who shot it.  They're asking anyone who saw something in that area at around that time to contact police at (316)

Wichita police say they're glad a police chase along Kellogg ended peacefully. Someone called 911 because they were concerned about some statements being made by a person they were with. Police found the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the car kept going. Officers deployed stop-sticks in an effort to stop the car, but the driver finally pulled over without hitting the sticks. Police say, aside from not stopping for officers, the man didn't break any traffic laws.

Wichita police are looking for a 20-year-old man who reportedly rammed his car into another car that his ex-wife was in. The 18-year-old ex-wife was one of two women in a car driven by a 30-year-old man. Police say, at around 7:30 Thursday evening, that car was rammed from behind near Kellogg and Hillside by a pickup driven by the woman's ex-husband. The woman warned the driver not to stop. But, the pickup pulled in front of the car, slowed down and forced the driver to stop.

Fire crews call a second alarm on a fire at the Holiday Inn at Kellogg & Rock Road.  Firefighters were called to the scene at around 11:30 Wednesday morning when an air-conditioning and heating unit in a vacant room on the fourth floor caught fire. Wichita Fire Marshal Brad Crisp says the initial crews found smoke and flames coming from a fourth-floor room.  When they got to the area, they found significant fire in that room.  Crisp says the sprinkler system kept the fire in check and fire crews were able to finish putting out the fire.

SB I-135 to EB Kellogg is back open after a semi rollover Monday afternoon.  The area was shut down for several hours. The driver was not seriously hurt.
