A motorcycle rider is still in critical condition after crashing on Kellogg Thursday.  The accident prompted the road to close for a couple of hours. Wichita police say a car had tire issues and pulled over just west of I-235.  The car stopped on the inside lane.  Traffic around it was slowing down, but police say the motorcycle rider may not have realized it was happening. The motorcycle rider laid down his bike and slid into the vehicle in front of him.  The motorcycle burst into flames.  A Clearwater EMS unit was near the area and transported the motorcycle driver to the hospital.

It's known as one of the worst interchanges in Wichita and in the future could get a complete overhaul.  The process is underway to reconstruct the interchange of I-235 and Kellogg. The public was invited to a meeting Wednesday night. Design concepts were unveiled on how to deal with traffic congestion, safety issues and improving overall traffic operations in the area. "I don't think they have a choice if the the west side if going to grow and traffic is going to move," says resident Myron Ewi who drives the interchange twice a day. The project will be divided into four phases.  The first phase would build an elevated flyover ramp connecting northbound I-235 to westbound Kellogg.  It would also provide a two lane flyover ramp for southbound I-235 to eastbound Kellogg.  Phase two would provide flyover ramps connecting eastbound Kellogg to northbound I-235 and westbound Kellogg to southbound I-235.
