By Melody Pettit (Salina, Kan.) A Smolan man who was shot Saturday by a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper after a chase made his first appearance by video Wednesday morning in Saline County District Court. Forty-six year old Charles Dinneen's bond was set $500,000. There was also a no contact order entered. He is to complete an application for appointed counsel and the case will be called Thursday morning at 8:30 to review that application. Further court dates will be set then.

" That's what Joyce Patterson told a judge about the man who abducted her last summer. She pleaded for Robert Abner to get the maximum prison sentence. "Let him realize how much he tortured me and put me through.  He deserves to pay the price," she said. A jury convicted Abner of kidnapping Patterson from the convenience store where she worked.

A Wichita mother tells police someone tried to kidnap her son. The boy was standing at a bus stop at Fountain and Bluff Thursday around 3:30 p.m. He says a man drove up and tried to kidnap him. The boy was able to get away. He says the man was driving a red Chevy Surburban. The man is described as 5' 5", 160 pounds, blond hair and blue eyes. If you have any information about the possible attempted kidnapping, call Wichita police.

A young girl is still frightened after she was taken against her will Friday night. The 12-year-old girl was walking with two other girls in the 5000 block of E. Harry around 9 p.m. The girls were returning from a nearby convenience store, when the victim said two unknown men approached them. Two of the girls ran away and called for help. But the other girl was missing for 40 minutes. The girl said she managed to get away from her abductor when he turned around to talk to friends.

A mother wrapped her arms tight around her daughter after she was kidnapped and held against her will for more than half an hour. James Johnson's daughter and another girl managed to get away. "It was terrifying but I calmed her down," Johnson said. "As long as she's safe, we're going skating and going to try to get past this and I'm going to deal with the rest. " The girls were headed home from a gas station near Edgemoor and Harry when the suspect approached them. "They just got hungry and figured they'd walk to Quik Trip in a group and figured they would be safe," he said.

Authorities thought they were investigating a kidnapping at Wichita's Mid-Continent Thursday morning. A man went to the airport to pick-up a woman he'd been talking with on-line. When she wasn't there, he texted her. She responded saying her flight got in early  She saw a man holding a sign with her name on it, so she went with him. The man called 9-1-1 to report she'd been kidnapped. Police started investigating and tracked her down by her cell phone. They determined the woman made up the story and was actually safe in missouri.

A dispute over piercing needles leads to shots fired in Garden City. Tuesday, Garden City Police learned about an incident at Prick the Skin Body Piercing and Tattoo shop. Police say two men who work there got into an argument about stolen piercing needles. During the argument, police say one man threatened the other with a gun, and fired a round. That round hit a chair and then went in the wall. Police say the man with the gun refused to let the other man leave. The victim fled when the other man got distracted by something else going on at the business.

Prosecutors charged six suspects in connection to a Wichita man's death. The body of 34-year-old Shawn Lindsey was found near K-96 and Hillside Jan. 14. Police believe he died Jan. 11, and the suspects dumped his body. Lindsey's death is the city's second homicide of 2013. Three of the suspects face first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping charges. J ustin Jones , Jason Jones and Dang Sean made their first appearance in court Thursday. They remain jailed on $1 million bond.

A man found guilty of killing the owner of a Wichita car dealership during a botched robbery receives a life sentenced. Kedrin Littlejohn, 20, was found guilty in October of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping and other charges in the death of James Collins. On Friday, a judge handed out a life-sentence for first-degree murder and 23 years in prison for aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping. Prosecutors say Collins was kidnapped from his business, Marquee Motors, on May 12, 2008.
