It's hard to find a woman who doesn't believe she has "problem area" somewhere on her body.  It's even harder to find a woman who will publicly admit it. In September of 2006, Schurz Communications purchased KWCH and its satellite stations establishing the operation as Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc. In July of 2007, the Sunflower Broadcasting family gained one more member when Schurz purchased Wichita CW affiliate KSCW which is seen over the air on Channel 33 and on cable channel 5 in most of the broadcast area. KWCH Eyewitness News also produces local news each weekday morning from 7-9 on the Kansas CW. Building Expansion: With the addition of KSCW, its broadcast operations and additional employees, KWCH embarked on building expansion and renovation late in 2007.

Tonight's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Rams will air tonight on KSCW (Channel 33, Cox Cable 5). The Wichita Eagle mistakenly printed that the game would air on KWCH 12.  Again, you can catch tonight's Chiefs game on KSCW.  KWCH 12 will air the pre-season game between the Green Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts.

The Kansas City Chiefs welcome the Seattle Seahawks to Arrowhead Stadium Friday night. The game will be the third preseason matchup for each team. The Chiefs are 1-1 while the Seahawks are 2-0. Programming Note You can watch the Chiefs game live on KSCW, channel 33 & Cox cable channel 5, starting at seven o'clock. KWCH 12 will air the Chicago Bears vs. the N.Y. Giants. That game also starts at seven o'clock.

KWCH 12 and the KSCW have reached an agreement with DISH Network.  That means DISH subscribers will continue to watch CBS and CW programming, along with local news. Terms of the agreement are still being hammered out, but both sides have agreed to keep KWCH 12 and the KSCW on DISH to avoid any disruption to consumers. Thanks to our viewers for the very positive feedback as we've worked through the discussions The negotiations went until the last minute, the contract was set to expire at 11 p.m. Thursday.  Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc. has now reached agreements with every other cable or satellite provider in our area.

Long-time KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports Director Bruce Haertl will be reducing his duties in 2013. Haertl's reduction is at his request to accommodate his family situation. His wife, Sarah Haertl, recently accepted a position as the Director of Marketing at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Haertl family will be relocating to Tulsa after the first of the year. Bruce Haertl plans to continue working for KWCH in a reduced role. He will remain the voice of televised Shocker men's basketball games and cover those games for KWCH.

KWCH 12 hosted the 22nd annual Top of the Class appreciation breakfast Saturday morning. The event honors the top graduating seniors at high schools across central Kansas, recognized for both their academic achievements as well as extra-curricular activities. High school counselors were asked to pick a student to represent their school. In addition to looking at the student's G.P.A., they were also asked to take into account awards, honor classes, clubs and sport involvement.

"This is why I hate your station. " Isn't that a nice way to begin a phone message? The message came from a viewer upset about something he saw & heard on our Thursday 9pm KSCW newscast. He didn't like that we were doing the news in Spanish. Actually, what he noticed was just a simple mistake. A Spanish sound bite ran on KSCW which was meant for our Univision newscast later that night. It inadvertently played instead of the English version that was intended. No big deal, just a mistake.

The Wichita State Shockers are in Atlanta for the Final Four.  The basketball team, pep band and cheerleaders left Wednesday afternoon. They boarded buses at Koch Arena around 3:30.  While no official send-off was planned, several fans showed up to wish them luck. Click here for photos of the team leaving Now that they are in Atlanta, the team will have an open practice Friday.  They will also hold a pre-game press conference at 10:40 a.m.  Eyewitness News will stream the press conference at kwch.com and also air it on KSCW.

The Wichita State Shockers will take on the Louisville Cardinals in the Atlanta next Saturday at 5:09pm. That game can be seen on KWCH. The Cardinals defeated the Duke Blue Devils Sunday night 85-63 in Indianapolis. The Cardinals (33-5) are the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. They won the Big East tournament this year. This is the second straight year the Cardinals have reached the Final Four. Last year they lost to the eventual champion Kentucky in the national semifinals.

Wichita State will make its first Elite 8 appearance since 1981.  The Shockers beat La Salle Thursday night 72-58 to advance.  The Shockers just wrapped up talking about their next game.  Ohio State will take questions from 3:40 until 4:20. The Shocker press conference will also air on KSCW (33.1/Cox Cable 5).
