by Bryan Holmgren Amazing how much easier the game of basketball becomes when you're playing from in front, as opposed to battling back from huge deficits. The Cats led for all but a handful of plays in Thursday night's First Round victory over USC. We weren't quite sure what to expect out of them after a lax month to close out the regular season, but K-State players didn't seem at all surprised, telling us tonight's performance was the product of several days worth of them on the practice floor.

by Bryan Holmgren I've got the laptop fired up with an undless supply of SunChips to sustain me. KU and K-State in second round action from Omaha - let's play two! FINAL - WISCONSIN 72, KANSAS STATE 55 Frank Martin has a pained expression on his face. He's not alone. The hospitality room is officially out of Famous Amos cookies. Former Kansas State Dylan Meier will be laid to rest this week. Funeral services are scheduled for ten o'clock Monday morning at the Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg. Meier died in a fall while hiking with his family in Arkansas last week. He was 26-years-old. Does anyone else see the irony in USC's Reggie Bush returning his Heisman Trophy, while O.J. Simpson keeps his? Although, if Bush says forfeiting the trophy isn't an admission of guilt--why give it back? I remember being young (before the last ice age) and thinking that there would never be any consequences--but I don't get how Jets receiver Braylon Edwards thinks (or doesn't). When you get behind the wheel at 4:47am after you've been drinking heavily, what do you think is going to happen?

Signs of the times---I heard someone typing on a typewriter yesterday and it took me awhile to recognize the sound. Rest well Fred--- I was saddened to hear of the passing of broadcaster Fred White earlier this week. I wasn't surprised that he'd kept his struggles with his health private, the last thing he'd ever want to have done was to draw attention to him. My first experience with Fred was with my ears-upon arriving in Wichita in...

After playing what one KSU hoops insider called 'the worst game he's ever seen a K-State team play¿, the 'Cats will play its second game in four days Monday, hosting Loyola Chicago (0-1) at Bramlage Coliseum. Kansas State is coming off a 72-67 win over Charleston Southern last Friday. KSU trailed by 14 points at the half in that contest before rallying to beat the Buccaneers. The contest with Loyola will complete a 3-game contract between the two schools that began on Nov. 13, 2009 with a 92-54 Wildcat win at home and continued with a 68-60 victory last season at the Gentile Center in Chicago. This will be the ninth meeting between the two schools dating back to 1936 with the all-time series knotted at 4-all. K-State has won three of the last four meetings and is 3-0 all-time at home against Loyola Chicago. K-State will again be without starting forward Jamar Samuels, as he serves the final game of a three game suspension for the breaking of unspecified team rules. Monday¿s game will mark the sixth time in the past six years that the Wildcats have played a Horizon League squad with the only loss in that span coming to Butler in the 2010 West Regional Final in¿Salt Lake City. K-State will be looking to go 2-0 on the season for the ninth consecutive season.
