For the second straight season the Kansas women made a run to the sweet 16, but they ran into a buzz saw in Norfolk on Sunday in Number 1 seeded Notre Dame. The Lady Jayhawks, a 12 seed, upset Colorado in the first round and then South Carolina in round two. But Notre Dame is a former national champion and has one of the top players in the country in Skylar Diggins. KU was not intimidated, at least not early, grabbing the lead on a Chelsea Gardner hoop four minutes into the game and holding it until to the 13:10 mark in the first half.

The Jayhawks were up 12 with three and a half minutes to play and then a 20-8 run later, the game is headed to overtime. “Games on this stage are won by one possession," said senior Kevin Young. "One or two possessions and we gave up too many.” The crazy thing is, they still had a chance to win. KU was down two with the ball and nearly 10 seconds in the overtime. "(It was designed for)

As if having the name Kansas across the front of your jersey isn't pressure enough, there are three members of the KU basketball team whose name on the back of the jersey brings with it just as much pressure. Manning, Self and Roberts are all names Jayhawk fans know well. But Evan Manning, Tyler Self and Niko Roberts are the next generation of KU basketball. "He has always kind of been coach, but at home he's more dad then a coach," sayd Tyler Self, who plays for the Jayhawks and whose father is head coach Bill Self.

Kansas Jayhawk basketball fans don't like Roy Williams. Nobody leaves the University of Kansas to coach somewhere else. Nobody. Especially after a press conference to tell Jayhawk nation “I'm staying.” Fans of KU felt betrayed. They felt like somebody owed them something for the awful way they'd been wronged. How dare he, they thought. How dare he take us all the way to two national title games, four Final Fours and nine regular season conference titles and then bolt after 15 years?

Fans who couldn't make it to Kansas City to watch KU and K-State Friday headed to the nearest, biggest TV they could find.  For many that was their local sports bar which made for a busy day for those who work there. March Madness means a lot of things when you work at a sports bar. "It'll be fun.  It's crazy.  You get stressed out a little bit," said Halston Strange, who works as a waitress at The Fox and Hound. "Everybody likes to come out, whether it's a local team or just the fact that it's a great excuse to take off from work early on a Friday and come watch some games," said General Manager Sean MacLachlan.
