We often hear questions from viewers asking whatever happened to their favorite anchors and reporters. Some of them stay and make Wichita their home but others move on to new cities and careers. Click here to see photos of former KWCH anchors and reporters We tracked down some of our former on-air talent and asked them to fill us in on what they are doing now.  We also asked what they remember best about their time at Channel 12. Every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States and every 13 minutes a woman dies from the disease.  These are the kind of statistics the Susan G. Komen 'Race for the Cure' is trying to change. You can help this effort by joining KWCH at the 'Race for the Cure' on Saturday, September 29 th at Towne East Square.  For the second year, KWCH is the television media sponsor for the race. KWCH's very own Cindy Klose and Jenn Bates will emcee the event.  Other Eyewitness news reporters, anchors, and meteorologists will also be at the race.

KWCH 12 Eyewitness News has been awarded a 2012 regional Edward R. Murrow Award for best newscast.  Winners were announced Thursday by the Radio Television Digital News Association, or RTDNA.  Named after an esteemed pioneer of television news broadcasting, the Edward R. Murrow award recognizes the pursuit of excellence in journalism. The winning newscast entry by KWCH 12 was “Eyewitness News at 5:00” from March 31, 2011.  The show, produced by Jennifer Searle and directed by Michael Wollscheidt, included special coverage of the Wichita State men's basketball team playing in the NIT championship game in New York City.  The newscast, anchored by Cindy Klose, Michael Schwanke and Ross Janssen, included reports by Sports Director Bruce Haertl and reporters Jenn Bates, Dave Roberts and Rebecca Gannon.

Former KWCH on-air personality Dick Cornish died Saturday. Cornish was on the staff when the station first went on air in 1953. The photo above is of him doing the weather at channel 12 in the mid 50's. Dick later spent decades on radio stations KWBW and KHUT in Hutchinson. He is the father of current KWCH anchor Roger Cornish. Dick Cornish was 79.

If you're watching KWCH 12 with an antenna in the Wichita area, we are temporarily off the air. We are actively working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but we don't know how long that will take. In the meantime, you can still watch KWCH 12 on 33.2 in Standard Definition. You may need to rescan your television or converter box. Our engineers are working to determine if this current problem is related to on-going repairs to our transmission line (see related story)

If you have DISH Network, you may lose the ability to watch KWCH 12 and the KSCW.  Although Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc. has reached agreements with every other cable or satellite provider in our area, the agreement with DISH Network is scheduled to end Thursday, December 20, at 11:00 p.m. "These agreements are typically reached in the normal course of business, with no disruption to the viewer," said Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc. KWCH is working to fix a problem with our transmitter. Because of this, we will turn off our transmitter early Saturday morning to make final repairs. This work will begin at 12:37 a.m. on Saturday morning and is expected to take around two hours to complete. The work will affect over-the-air viewers in the Wichita area. If you watch us over the air, and lose Channel 12 overnight, do not rescan your TV or converter box. Just wait for Channel 12 to come back Saturday morning. You can also find us on Channel 33.2 in standard definition.

KWCH 12 and the KSCW have reached an agreement with DISH Network.  That means DISH subscribers will continue to watch CBS and CW programming, along with local news. Terms of the agreement are still being hammered out, but both sides have agreed to keep KWCH 12 and the KSCW on DISH to avoid any disruption to consumers. Thanks to our viewers for the very positive feedback as we've worked through the discussions The negotiations went until the last minute, the contract was set to expire at 11 p.m. Thursday.  Sunflower Broadcasting, Inc. has now reached agreements with every other cable or satellite provider in our area.
