So far today I've had about three cups of coffee, worked out at Stone and Barbell club, gotten ready for work, eaten lunch, written my stuff for the 5 and 5:30 shows, edited and sent it back, shot another quick 10 second hit for our marketing department, watched the end of the Ole Miss Wisconsin game and then I sat around for a minute and now I'm writing my blog. Oh and we're still more than 6 hours away from tipoff between Kansas and Western Kentucky....

When we want to get "the skinny" on a workout, we go to KWCH's "exercise expert" in the sports office, Jenn Bates. She's helping me with the "Booty Slide. " You're supposed to work your way to a gravity-defying derriere with a special pair of booties you use on a hard floor. "These are tight little suckers," Jenn said as she puts them on her feet. We got the booties, four work-out DVD's, two sliders for your hands, and a nutrition guide for $19.99, plus shipping and handling.

The Missouri Valley Conference responded to outrage following the Wichita State-Southern Illinois game last Tuesday. The ending of the game was decided by a last second goaltending call by official Rick Randall. Randall made the call on Wichita State 7-foot center Ehimen Orupke on a shot by Jalen Pendleton. In an email to KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports , commissioner Doug Elgin released the following statement: "After a thorough review of the Wichita State - SIU game in Carbondale last Tuesday night, the MVC has disciplined men's basketball official Rick Randall for his performance in the contest. As is customary in all matters involving league officiating personnel, the specifics of these actions have been handled internally.

For those who are not big time fans, it's the shortest off-season in sports. For the rest of us, it's the longest two months of our lives. But this week is sort of the unofficial star back of the NASCAR season. Sure cars were on the track two weeks ago for preseason testing at Daytona and last week at Charlotte. But this week...this week is NASCAR Media Week. Wait what is NASCAR Media Week you ask? Think Super Bowl Media day, if all 32 teams were there. Over the next four days, I and about 200 of my closet (and not so close)

KWCH 12 is now testing the secondary audio program (SAP) on selected CBS programs. The secondary audio is a descriptive video service (DVS) in English which makes visual media more accessible to people who are blind or otherwise visually impared. CBS currently provides descriptive video on four programs: CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS & NCIS Los Angeles. Some other CBS programs have Spanish language dialogue on the SAP channel including the program The Bold and The Beautiful. The FCC will soon require broadcast stations to pass SAP if a program provider includes that service with their program.

A local company that's been providing safe rides for drunk drivers is being questioned about its business practices. There are several complaints directed at Safe Riders Inc. for the way it charges customers for a ride home. Kimberly Davis says she was trying to do the responsible thing by arranging for a ride home, so that she and her husband wouldn't have to drive home drunk from a holiday party. So she made a reservation with Safe Riders Inc., a designated driving service that she's used in the past with no problems---until now. Safe Riders charged her debit card even though she and her husband paid the driver in cash.
