The Law Enforcement Training Center presented new training methods to Wichita's Racial Profiling Advisory Board Thursday night. The discussion focused on how Wichita police officers and other law enforcement will trained regarding race and gender. The center previously used a method out of California, but has now developed its own method. The hope is that the new training will be interactive and will also include real life examples of what racial profiling is. Statistics show that African-Americans are three times as likely to be searched and stopped.

This was not how Steve Jett wanted to start his week. He walked into his transmission repair shop near Colwich Monday to see things out of place. "I first noticed the drawers of the toolbox were open, which was unusual," he said. Before long, he realized someone had been here. Someone had broken into his shop overnight. They stole his most expensive tools and a customer's car- a one-hundred thousand dollar loss. "We're just totally out," Jett said, frankly. It wasn't clear how it happened, because all the external doors were barred shut.
