Zemco Industries in Buffalo, New York, has recalled approximately 380,000 pounds of deli meat that may be contaminated with bacteria that can cause a potentially fatal disease, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Monday. The products were distributed to Wal-Marts nationwide, according to the USDA's website. The meats may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which was discovered in a retail sample collected by inspectors in Georgia. The USDA has received no reports of illnesses associated with the meats.

Ingredients 5/lb. Hamburger meat 1 pk. chili seasoning Seasoning Salt Black Pepper Garlic Powder 2 small cans of Refried Beans 2 med. size Picante Sauce (medium) 1 box Velveeta Cheese   Season hamburger meat lightly with seasoning salt, black pepper and garlic powder.  Brown meat thoroughly and drain grease.  Add chili seasoning, Velveeta cheese (cut in cubes), refried beans and picante sauce.  Simmer on low and stir constantly, allowing cheese to melt.

A meat packing plant in Cowley County has recalled more than 7 tons of ground beef products after lab tests detected E. coli. The Arkansas City Traveler says Creekstone Farms Premium Beef confirmed Wednesday that it had recalled 14,148 pounds of ground beef. The company says the tainted meat was produced Feb. 22 and shipped to Missouri, Iowa, Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington. Creekstone and the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service say they have received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the questionable meat.

Chef Artaynia Westfall knows how important a good knife is.  And she knows how bad a dull blade can be. “It’s frustrating!” What about a knife made out of ceramic?  The Yoshi Blade claims it won’t rust, is sharp and will stay that way longer than your stainless steel knives. That is the “Good” list. The “Do Not” list it comes with is a lot longer. “Do not use on frozen food. Do not use on hard cheeses. Do not bend or twist,” Artaynia reads.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says a man stole a marine's identity to get a job at a meat packing plant in Arkansas City. Inocente Monroy Alcantara is a citizen of Mexico. He's charged with using false identification. A U.S. Marine who recently returned from service informed police someone at working at the meat packing plant was using his name and Social Security number. Investigators say that person was Alcantara. If convicted, Alcantara faces up to ten years in prison.

Consumer Reports ShopSmart says how you handle food, beginning at the grocery store, can make a difference. Your first move: Head to the middle of the store for nonperishables and foods. Save things that need to be kept cold like eggs, meat, and deli goods for the end. And the colder the better, so reach into the back of the case to make your selections.

She fixes dozens of the restaurant's popular hamburgers and cheeseburgers every day.   So what's five or ten more? The Slider Station is a pan that fixes five little hamburgers at a time on your stove top.  The lid presses the  burgers down to flatten them out and cook without flipping them.

The British Government has launched a criminal investigation in to horse meat being sold in imported beef products. First, hamburgers sold through a supermarket chain were found to contain horse DNA. Now, horse meat has been discovered in packs of beef lasagna in concentrations ranging from 60% to 100%. There is no known health risk from horse meat, but there's concern it may be tainted with the veterinary drug phenylbutazone  that's not allowed to enter the food chain.
