Joe Mauer went 3-for-4 and scored the winning run in the 11th inning to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. Mauer, a career .359 hitter at Kauffman Stadium, led off the 11th with a double off Jonathan Broxton (1-2) and he scored on Josh Willingham's groundball single to right. Casey Fien (1-0) worked two perfect innings to pick up his first major-league victory. Glen Perkins worked around Alcides Escobar's leadoff double in the bottom of the inning to pick up his fifth save in eight opportunities.

Trevor Plouffe homered twice, Josh Willingham and Drew Butera had one each and the Minnesota Twins came back from four runs down to take a big lead, then held on to beat the Kansas City Royals 10-8 Sunday. With one run already across in the sixth, Willingham hit a three-run homer to tie the game at 5. Two batters later, Plouffe hit a solo shot for his second of the day. Plouffe also hit a solo homer in the second inning. Butera added a three-run shot in the eighth. The home runs came off Kansas City starter Bruce Chen (7-7)

Joe Mauer homered, rookie Cole De Vries threw six strong innings and the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 5-1 Saturday to sweep a day-night doubleheader. Josh Willingham and Chris Parmelee also homered for the Twins, who finished June with a 14-13 record - their first winning month in almost a year. Luis Mendoza allowed one run over a career-high eight innings, Salvador Perez homered, and the Kansas City Royals won their fourth straight, hanging on to beat the Minnesota Twins 4-3 on Friday night. Yuniesky Betancourt, Billy Butler and Eric Hosmer added RBIs for the Royals (35-39), who are four games under .500 for the first time since April 16. Jonathan Broxton allowed two runs in the ninth, but got Trevor Plouffe to foul out to end the game and earn his 20th save. Joe Mauer had two hits and an RBI double in the ninth that cut Kansas City's lead to 4-2. Josh Willingham followed with an RBI groundout.

Josh Willingham had three hits and came a homer away from hitting for the cycle to help the Minnesota Twins snap their six-game losing streak by beating the Kansas City Royals 7-4 Sunday. Jason Marquis (2-0) threw six strong innings for Minnesota, who also got three hits and a pair of RBIs from Danny Valencia. Bruce Chen (0-3) had his worst outing of the season, giving up six runs on six hits in only 2 2-3 innings for the Royals, whose three-game winning streak ended.

The game between the Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins was postponed because of rain on Saturday. The game was scheduled to be made up as part of a split doubleheader on June 30. The Royals, who won their third straight game Friday night after losing 12 in a row, were scheduled to send Bruce Chen (0-2) against Minnesota's Jason Marquis (1-0). The Twins have lost six in a row and are in last place in the AL Central. Before the game, Royals manager Ned Yost said Chen would start Sunday if Saturday's game was washed out.

Alex Gordon and Billy Butler each hit a two-run homer and the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 7-6 on Friday night for their third straight win. Mike Moustakas delivered the go-ahead single in the eighth inning and Alcides Escobar added an RBI single three batters later for Kansas City. Trevor Plouffe homered for the Twins. Alexi Casilla had two hits and two RBIs, but Minnesota again struggled with runners in scoring position and dropped below the Royals for the worst record in baseball.

Bruce Chen pitched eight crisp innings, Alex Gordon homered and the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 4-0 on Tuesday night. Chen (11-7) allowed two singles, struck out eight and walked one. He was 0-2 with a 7.94 ERA in his previous two starts. Chen yielded a leadoff single to Ben Revere, who stole second. He was the only Twin to get past first base against the left-hander. Danny Valencia singled in the fifth for Minnesota's only other hit off Chen.

Michael Cuddyer singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Joe Nathan did his job as the new closer Saturday night, giving the Minnesota Twins a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. Cuddyer, Minnesota's lone All-Star representative, singled off Aaron Crow to drive in Alexi Casilla. Nathan finished for his fourth save in seven chances. Earlier in the day, the Twins put the former All-Star back into his familiar role, replacing the struggling Matt Capps. Drew Butera added a solo home run for Minnesota.

Trevor Plouffe hit a two-run homer and Delmon Young had three hits in his return to the lineup to lead the Minnesota Twins to an 8-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night. Francisco Liriano (6-7) gave up three runs - one earned - on seven hits with four strikeouts in seven innings and Joe Mauer had two hits and two RBIs for the Twins. Melky Cabrera had two hits, an RBI and threw a runner out at home from center field for the Royals, who watched their bullpen let a close game get out of hand.
