The Grand Marshal for Sunday's Pocono 400 presented by #NASCAR may have been Vanilla Ice. But while people on twitter were busy quoting "Ice, Ice Baby," I was having a hard time getting Sam Hagar out of my head. NASCAR was dishing out more speeding penalties than a small town police department at the end of the month. For whatever reason, drivers were having a hard time obeying NASCAR's 55 mph speed limit on pit road. "There is a segment where something is just not like it normally is," Jimmie Johnson, who got nailed twice by a speeding penalty told USA Today . "There is something wrong with the timing loop.

NASCAR has suspended former cup champion Kurt Busch from all NASCAR events through June 13th. The suspension comes when, after Saturday's Nationwide race, Busch went to a tirade aimed at a member of the NASCAR media corps as a television camera rolled. Busch was already on probation at the time of the incident, and that has been extended until the end of the season. The suspension means he can not compete in this weekend's Sprint Cup series race at Pocono, nor the truck race at Texas.

After two straight weeks at NASCAR's home base in Charlotte, it's time to take this traveling circus back on the road. This week's stop Dover International Speedway, also known as the Monster Mile and with good reason. It's is the fast mile long track on the circuit and it has a bad reputation. "If you say Dover doesn't intimidate you, you are lying," said Jeff Burton. "I couldn't think of a more perfect nickname than the 'Monster Mile.' You have to be exceptionally aggressive, but if you cross the line, you will be in trouble.

After racing just for fun and finishing 14th at the All-Star race, it's back to Charlotte for a second week, but this time it counts. NASCAR will run its version of a marathon, also known as theCoca-Cola 600. NASCAR's longest race has been, well kinda of tough on Bowyer. In six starts, he has just one top 10 (in 2010). Bowyer did take home one piece of hardware from All-Star weekend, the victory burnout competition. NASCAR's version of the slam-dunk contest or home run derby, pits some of the top drivers in the sport, showing off their best burnout.

NASCAR has the best All-Star event in all of sport. Yeah I said it. Who is going to argue with me. I mean come on now. They are thinking about getting rid of the Pro Bowl. The NBA and NHL All-Star game are both just a bunch of guys out there trying not to get hurt. And baseball had to create something to for the guys to play for to generate some false excitement. So back to my original statement, NASCAR has he best All-Star event in all of sport. "Our All-Star race is a lot different than other sports," said Kevin Harvick.

It is not lost on me that not every race can be the Daytona 500. I get that. There are more races on the whole that are like what we sat through on Saturday night, than are like that epic saga. But it was also not lost on me that this weekend NASCAR made its way back to Rockingham for the first time since 2004 and the old track was racey. Infact the truck race seemed to have more passing then we've seen in a along time. The Rock is unique, it has character, it has that special something that no amount of repaving can give the what seems like a never ending list of mile and a half tracks that NASCAR goes to every week.

Tony Stewart might just be the hottest driver in NASCAR right now. With his win Sunday in Las Vegas, he's won two races to start 2012 (if you count his duel victory), three of the last four and five of the last 10 races last season. So wait, let me take back that opening line and just say, Tony Stewart IS the hottest driver in NASCAR right now. And how about this stat, the win in Vegas on Sunday, means Smoke has won on every active track on the NASCAR circut. "That's a huge personal accomplishment for me," sais Stewart.

NASCAR president Mike Helton says the Daytona 500 will now start Monday night at 6 p.m Central. On Sunday, rains caused the Great American raced to be postponed for the first time in the history of the Daytona 500, it has been postponed until Monday. Rain soaked Daytona Beach for most of the day on Sunday and despite NASCAR's best try to dry the track, the rain just wouldn't let up. Estimates were that it might take up to four more hours to dry the track and NASCAR decided that it would just be too late to start the race then.
