A Scott City teen dies after crashing his pick-up Monday night in Scott County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Timothy Dirks was driving on County Road 270 around 9:30 Monday night when he drove his pick-up into a ditch near Pence Road. The KHP says Dirks went back on the road in a sideways slide, and his pick-up rolled. Dirks was thrown from the pick-up. He was taken to Scott County Hospital, then transferred to Hays Medical Center where he died. Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt.

Part of I-70 was closed in Lincoln County Sunday because of a chemical spill. A semi-truck carrying ethanol crashed in the east bound lanes of I-70 near mile marker 231. The truck rolled over, and spilled some of its cargo. The driver was taken to the hospital. The highway re-opened around 7:00 Sunday night.

A McDonald's was robbed Saturday night. Employees said they never saw a weapon. The robbery happened at the McDonald's in the 1800 block of N. Hillside, across the street from Wichita State University. A clerk was ordered to take money out of a safe. No one was hurt and no one has been arrested yet.

An inmate who walked away from work release over the weekend is back in custody. Pete Vasquez was arrested again Monday. No other details about what happened are available right now. Vasquez failed to return to the Wichita Work Release Facility from his job with a construction company Saturday night. Vasquez was convicted of theft in August 2011.

Wichita police arrest four people during a drunk driving check lane Saturday night. Wichita Police held the DUI check lane on Broadway near 31st Street South. Investigators say the four arrests were on a variety of charges. The charges included DUI, possession of marijuana and weapons charges. Police say they also wrote 63 citations during the DUI check lane.

(WICITA, Kan.) Things aren't so peaceful in the Peaceful Village . Stephanie Cherry lists off, "Mold, roaches, mice. " Latisha Mitchell adds, "To be getting $300 to $400 in rent I think you can do a lot better for your tenants. " Just ask Lindsay Bass, she spent a year battling the mice, feces, roaches and has had enough. Things got so bad that she went to the city and her apartment ended up being condemned. So, Saturday night, she was looking for some answers.

by Kim Hynes (WICHITA, Kan.) If you have an emergency in the middle of the night, you won't find help inside a police substation. Later this month, Wichita will close substations to the public overnight. The city council approved the measure last year to help balance the budget. The police department says its ready to make the change. Starting June 26th, substations will close from 11PM until 7AM. By shutting down to the public during that time, the city will save about $165,000 a year.

While you slept, gas prices hit another record high in Wichita. The price of regular unleaded jumped to $3.89 a gallon. That's just 11 cents away from the four dollar mark. Over the past few days, the price inched a few cents lower, then shot up as much as 17 cents Wednesday night. But we're still better off than the rest of the country on average. The aveage cost of a gallon of gas is $4.08 nationwide.

Valley Center Public Schools have cancelled school Friday at Valley Center Middle School. The district decided to cancel school because of a water main break. The break happened Thursday afternoon. The extent of any damage is not known. Superintendent Cory Gibson is meeting with administrators to decide how to handle school activities scheduled for Thursday night and Friday. One person is critically injured after a stabbing near the street from the Lord's Diner in downtown Wichita. It happened near Central and Topeka right around 8:30pm Friday night. Officials say the person critically injured was cut in the neck. One other person suffered minor injuries. Police say there was an altercation between two to three individuals when the stabbing happened. The victim who was injured took off from the scene and he was located across from the Lord's Diner.
