As campaign season moves forward, hotly contested Republican races are getting a lot of attention. So much so, a number of Democratic voters are switching parties for the primary. It's a trend that worries the Sedgwick County Democratic Party. They've sent out this email, urging fellow democrats to stay Democrats. So why would a Democrat turn Republican for the primary? Some may think it's a strategy to win come the November general election.

SurveyUSA interviewed 2,500 Kansas adults 06/24/10 through 06/27/10. Of them, 2,182 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 721 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the August 3 Republican Primary; 364 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the August 3 Democratic Primary. Asked of 721 Adults - Margin of Sampling Error for this question = ± 3.2% Kansas Republicans will also vote in a primary election for Governor.

Press Release CBS News November 13th, 2008 President-elect Barack Obama has agreed to give his first post-election interview to Steve Kroft. The interview includes First Lady-elect Michelle Obama and is to take place Friday in Chicago. It is scheduled to be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday, Nov. 16 at six o'clock on KWCH 12. 60 MINUTES has covered the campaign and the election closely. Most recently, Kroft and 60 MINUTES cameras were with Obama's top aides on election night for a segment broadcast on last Sunday's 60 MINUTES that drew 18.5 million viewers, ranking it America's number-one program for the week.

Sedgwick County Undersheriff Bob Hinshaw is the only candidate for sheriff with TV commercials airing just days before the primary election. This FactFinder 12 report analyzes that ad. There are five Republicans running for Sedgwick County Sheriff. They are Mark Alexander of Via Christi security, Lt. Dal Astle of the Garden Plain Police Department, Lt. Carl Enterkin of the Bel Aire Police Department, Sedgwick County Undersheriff Bob Hinshaw, and Wichita Police Deputy Chief Robert Lee. Hinshaw raised the most campaign money, and he's the only one with a TV commercial.
