Weather calendar confusion will continue today early May will feel more like February for the next few days.  Wintry weather moved through western Kansas Wednesday night into early Thursday dropping several inches of snow while folks in the east heard rolling thunder and brief heavy rains.  Cold rain mixed with light sleet at times over central Kansas too as early morning temps dropped into the low to mid-30s. The wintry mix around central and eastern Kansas, including Wichita, early Thursday will give way to off and on showers by mid-morning and continue through the afternoon.  Afternoon highs will be bone-chilling, only reaching the lower 40s, about 30 degrees colder than our typical early May highs.  While some breaks in the clouds are expected over the west, clouds will hang tough over the east, along with a stiff north wind.

Wednesday will be the last winter-like, chilly day for a while because warmer weather is on the way Thursday through our weekend so hang in there. Early Wednesday, rain showers mixed with a little wet snow but nothing measurable fell across the state. Roads will be mostly wet, first thing Wednesday morning but a few bridges and elevated roads could be a little slick in spots until about noon. Through the afternoon hours, the best chance for moisture will once again be found over southern Kansas.
