Our new work and school week will bring more mild weather our way here in Kansas with temperatures in the 50s and even some lower 60s . Early Monday, low clouds pushed across southeastern Kansas but did not bring any rain or snow. Early morning temps fell into the mid-20s out west and into the upper-30s around Wichita. Winds were light and switched around to the north as a weak cold front pushed through our area. Behind the front Monday temps will be just a few degrees cooler statewide with afternoon highs topping out in the mid-40s and lower-50s with decreasing northerly winds throughout the day. Tuesday looks mild and dry followed by a chance for rain Wednesday night but unfortunately the possibility of moisture will be limited to south-central Kansas.

This afternoon's highs will soar back into the upper-40s and lower-50s for most of the state. We can expect light northerly winds across eastern Kansas and a light southerly breeze out west. Our weekend temps will be fairly mild too as a weak storm system moves in from the west. The weather-maker will sprint through our region bringing a chance for light rain or sprinkles Saturday night and into early Sunday. Temperatures Saturday night into Sunday morning should stay above freezing so no snow or ice are expected anywhere in Kansas.

It will stay partly cloudy overnight across Kansas. Temperatures will be milder than they have been over the last few nights. Clouds will be increasing from the southwest on Saturday with rain developing in southwest Kansas in the late afternoon. The rain will spread to the northeast Saturday night. The rain will come to an end from west to east Sunday morning.  Amounts should generally be under a quarter of an inch. Partly cloudy skies will return on Monday helping to push temperatures to near record levels.

This afternoon look for most of the measurable rain to push-off to the northeast leaving only clouds and a few sprinkles behind. Gray skies, damp ground and easterly winds will give us highs ranging from the lower 40s to around 50 degrees. Friday will bring a mix of clouds and sun along with afternoon highs in the 50s and lower-60s statewide before another storm system begins to affect our area by Friday night into Saturday morning. The late week storm could bring some patchy freezing drizzle or flurries to a few folks but the bigger weather story will be harshly colder temperatures.

Wichita street sweepers are out, running night and day.  They're trying to get as much sand off the roads as possible before predicted rains fall later this week.  What goes down before a storm, must be picked up after.  "We're trying to sweep up all the sand that we put down in combating the most recent snow storm," said Aaron Henning, with the Wichita Public Works Department. State and federal law say they have to, even if the sweepers slow down traffic at times.
