WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The leader of Operation Rescue says a man suspected of fatally shooting abortion doctor George Tiller is not affiliated with the anti-abortion group. The group released the statement from its president, Troy Newman, on Monday saying Scott Roeder "has never been a member, contributor or volunteer with Operation Rescue. " Newman says Roeder may have posted to the organization's open Internet blog, but so have thousands of members of the public not tied to the group.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A man charged with murdering Kansas abortion provider Dr. George Tiller has been advocating through mailings from his jail cell that such killings are justifiable. Scott Roeder sent Oregon anti-abortion activist Linda Wolfe a pamphlet that lauds Paul Hill, the convicted murderer of an abortion doctor, as an "American hero," and includes examples of Hill's writings about how it is justifiable to kill abortion doctors. The Rev. Donald Spitz, whose anti-abortion group Army of God celebrates Hill's teachings, says he provided Roeder with seven of the pamphlets upon Roeder's request.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The suspect in the killing of Kansas abortion provider George Tiller is accusing the president of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue of cowardice. Scott Roeder leveled the charge in a letter sent from jail. Roeder has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the May 31 shooting at Tiller's Wichita church. Operation Rescue president Troy Newman confirmed Friday that he had received the letter, but declined comment other than calling it "more prattle" from Roeder.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Online auction house eBay said it has begun taking down several items of anti-abortion memorabilia posted to raise funds for the man accused of killing a Kansas abortion doctor. The company said Monday the items violated its listing policies. Some of the more obscure items were still posted early Monday. One is a worn Bible once owned by Shelley Shannon, the Oregon woman who shot and wounded Dr. George Tiller in 1993 and was later convicted in a series of abortion clinic arsons and bombings.

By Alana Rocha (WASHINGTON, D.C.) Lawmakers in the U.S. House introduced Resolution 505. It offers condolences to Dr. George Tiller's family following his murder last week. Scott Roeder, 51, is charged with first degree murder in Tiller's death. Tiller was shot dead Sunday, May 31st as he ushered fellow members of Reformation Lutheran Church into the morning service. Resolution 505 commits lawmakers to the American prinicple that tolerance is never an appropriate response to a difference in beliefs.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The man charged in the slaying of Kansas late-term abortion provider George Tiller says he's "being treated as a criminal" even though he hasn't been convicted. Scott Roeder called The Associated Press on Thursday from the Sedgwick County Jail and disputed characterizations in the media of him as being anti-government, saying he is "anti-corrupt government. " When asked by the AP to discuss the Tiller shooting, the 51-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man refused to comment, saying he would talk about that later.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - A brother of the man suspected of fatally shooting abortion doctor George Tiller told a Kansas newspaper that the family never foresaw him capable of killing. Scott Roeder was in jail Monday while investigators sought to learn more about his background. He has not been charged in Tiller's slaying at a Wichita church Sunday. David Roeder said in a statement to The Topeka Capital-Journal that the family is "shocked, horrified and filled with sadness at the death of Dr. Tiller" and the possible involvement of Roeder.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The Federal Bureau of Investigation says that more than a month before Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed, it received an anonymous letter warning about the man now charged in the case. FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton says the April letter warned that Scott Roeder would physically harm Tiller or any other abortion provider. The letter turned out to have been written by Mark Archer. He and his wife are in the midst of a bitter custody battle with Roeder over a child Roeder fathered.

By Eyewitness News (WICHITA, Kan.) Courtroom personnel and media are preparing for the start of the Scott Roeder trial. Press from all over the country will be in Wichita covering the proceedings. Roeder goes on trial Monday. He's accused of killing Wichita abortion provider Dr. George Tiller. Prosecutors say Roeder shot Tiller in the lobby of Reformation Lutheran Church on May 31st of 2009. Roeder plans to argue the killing was justified to protect unborn children.

By Kim Wilhelm (WICHITA, Kan.) We're learning more about the suspect police say shot and killed Wichita abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.  That suspect is 51-year-old Scott Roeder from Merriam, in Northeast Kansas. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office released his name Sunday evening, but he HAS NOT been formally charged. Authorities pulled Roeder over three hours after the shooting.  They say it appears he was driving home to Johnson County.  He was not speeding or breaking any laws.
