A Peabody man is sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Terry Bowen, 64, was found guilty of two counts of rape, aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated kidnapping in June of 2011 in Marion County district court. On Wednesday, Bowen was sentenced to life without parole under the state's aggravated habitual sex offender statute. Two other people were convicted in the case. Lora Gay, 38, of Peabody, was sentenced to more than 25 years in prison, and Kenneth Frederick, 22, of Peabody, was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison.

Wichita police are investigating the possible sexual assault of a 71-year-old patient at the Kansas Masonic Home. The woman was brought to Wesley Medical Center Sunday for treatment of injuries. During an examination, a hospital staffer determined the woman had injuries consistent with sexual assault, Sex Crimes Investigator Lt. Randy Reynolds said. It's unclear when the woman may have received the injuries. She suffers from dementia and other health problems and has been unable to speak with investigators, Reynolds said.

Hays police are concerned about a lot of rumors and false information going around, regarding two recent sexual assaults in town. Investigators want to point out there were only two sexual assaults recently reported to the Hays Police Department. They say the two incidents do not appear to be related. More than a hundred people came to a community meeting in Derby to discuss a recent sexual assault. Officers say a woman was attacked in her home on the east side of the city by a man wearing a black ski mask. The incident happened last Monday around noon. Police called the community meeting for this weekend to answer questions about the sexual assault. Police held the meeting to provide crime prevention tips as well as answer questions about the attack. They are urging people to keep all their doors and windows locked, even if they are at home at the time.

Wichita police arrest five boys at Gordon Parks Elementary on suspicion of sexually assaulting a girl in an empty classroom this week. Police say the girl reported that the boys surrounded her and touched her inappropriately on Wednesday afternoon. Three of the boys are 11-years-old, the other two are 12-years-old and 13-years-old. Police and school officials were notified of the incident on Thursday. The five boys were booked into the juvenile detention center on suspicion of unlawful restraint and sexual battery. They have since been released to the custody of their parents.

Derby police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred shortly before noon on Monday. Officers say a woman was attacked in her home on the east side of the city by a man wearing a black ski mask. Police have called a community meeting this weekend to answer questions about the sexual assault. The attacker is described as being 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build. He wore jeans and a dark colored shirt. The community meeting will be held at two o'clock on Sunday in the City Council Room at City Hall.

A man who served prison time for the rape of a Wichita teenager has pleaded guilty to sexual assault in Kansas City. Wesley Watson was parolled on the earlier rape conviction less than a year before the Kansas City attack. He had been accused of impersonating a police officer at a Kansas City Walmart in order to assault the woman. After the guilty plea, Watson will be sentenced in April, and faces more than 28 years in prison.

The suspect in a Derby kidnapping and sexual assault is in custody in Springfield, Missouri. Patrick Stewart was arrested there by U.S. Marshals, and is awaiting extradition to Kansas. He is accused of beating, tying up, and sexually assaulting two women in Derby after a Super Bowl party. The Derby Police Department says Stewart was also wanted for charges in Georgia, Idaho and Missouri.
