Two people are in critical condition and two others in serious condition after a house fire in El Dorado. It happened Sunday afternoon in the 1900 block of Jason Drive. Authorities say the patients suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters respond to a house fire in Valley Center Saturday morning. It broke out around 8am in the 39-hundred block of West 89th St. North. When crews arrived they found fire coming out of the roof. The fire was in the attic space. Two people were home at the time of the fire, they were able to get out okay. A law enforcement officer at the scene did suffer from smoke inhalation. Damage is estimated at around $50,000. Authorities say the majority of the damage was from water damage.

Wichita firefighters believe an electrical malfunction is to blame for a house fire that left one woman hospitalized. Crews were called to the 9900 block of Briarwood, which is near 13th and Maize, around 5:30 Monday morning. When crews got there, they found a woman who was having trouble breathing because of smoke inhalation. She was taken to St. Francis in serious condition. She told crews that her smoke detector went off and woke her up. She heard some popping sounds and immediately got out of the house. She was the only person here.

Investigators say three children playing with a lighter started a fire that led to a 2-year-old going to the hospital with smoke inhalation. Crews were called to the home on north Pershing around 12:15 Friday morning. While crews were on their way, they got the report that a person was trapped in the home. Investigators say the fire started in the home's back bedroom where four, five and seven-year-old children were playing. Fire officials say they were playing with a lighter.

Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in east Wichita. At this point, we know one person is in critical condition. A 911 dispatchers says the person has smoke inhalation. Sedgwick County fire investigators say a fire that sent a 17-year-old boy to the hospital was electrical in nature. The fire started around 3:30 Thursday afternoon while the teen was working on his car in a garage. Damage is estimated at $200,000. Crews kept the fire from spreading to the home. An amplifier capacitor in the garage ignited, causing the fire. The teen was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but later released. Our news partners at KFDI radio contributed to this report.

A woman is taken to the hospital in serious condition after an apartment fire in Southeast Wichita. It happened just after 5 o'clock Saturday evening in the 3300 block of East 31st South. That is at the Southern Hills Apartment Complex. Officers say the victim suffered from smoke inhalation.

The manager of Centennial Towers says the apparent cause of Thursday night's fire was smoking. Patricia Thibault says the only fire related injury is someone inside that apartment where the fire started. Eight people were initially taken to Hays Medical Center for treatment. Fire damage was contained to one apartment on the third floor. That floor and the one below it where the fire started received water damage. Thibault says all services have been restored to the building and that 65-percent of the apartments are habitable.

Things are back to normal now at the Sedgwick County jail after a small fire. County officials tell Eyewitness news that temporary repairs were completed to the power distribution facility before noon on Thursday. A small fire broke out in the Sedgwick County Detention facility Wednesday morning. The sheriff's office says, an external electrical transformer failed and may have caused an electrical surge inside the building. In a press release, the sheriff's office writes that deputies immediately discovered and managed to put out a very small fire in the ceiling, where power runs through the building.

A house fire leaves a Wichita man in critical condition. It happened late Monday in the 1900 block of South Waco. Firefighters were called to the home and found that the fire was already out, but a 55-year-old man person was inside suffering from smoke inhalation. Emergency dispatchers tell us the man was smoking while on an oxygen tank.
