I remember everyone being concerned because the storm had moved through residential areas, not through open fields as many Kansas tornadoes do. Unfortunately, our concerns were born out as our crews got into those areas affected by the storm. By Saturday morning we knew the extent of the death and destruction that had been wrought by this killer storm. It still makes me shiver to think back to the scenes we saw in Andover. At the same time, it was amazing to see how people responded in the aftermath and got down to cleaning up and eventually rebuilding.
