The Wichita Thunder has won ten straight games - the last team to beat them? Allen, Texas. The undeniably best teams in the Central Hockey League open their best of seven championship series tonight in Texas---the Thunder are coming off back to back sweeps in the playoffs and haven't played for a week. Allen won a hard fought seven game set with Missouri at the end of last week. We'll find out whether the break's been good for the Thunder, or allowed some rust to form. I think Wichita splits two in Texas and wins the series in six games.

After a summer-like Start to our week, some bone-chilling changes are on the way Wednesday and Thursday. Before the cold air returns we'll get one more warm day as the mercury soars back into the lower 80s for most of Kansas Tuesday afternoon along with gusty southerly winds. Northern Kansas will end up a bit cooler however, with highs in the 70s, as a cold front slides in from the north by midday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop along the cold front Tuesday night as it pushes south and east.

We will get one more warm day before the mercury heads back the other direction for the remainder of the week. Expect a few showers or storms in northeast Kansas overnight, but the rest of the state will be dry with increasing clouds. The wind should remain from the south. Lows will be in the 50s and 60s overnight. Tuesday will be warm with highs in the 80s for much of Kansas. Northern Kansas will end up with highs in the 70s where a cold front arrives a little earlier in the day. The wind is expected to be gusty from the south.

After a summer-like Sunday the heat's on once again Monday along with more gusty southerly winds. The warm stretch of weather will continue for a few more days here in Kansas but get set for another bout of unusually cool air to slide back into our area by midweek. Look for mostly sunny skies Monday with highs soaring into the mid-80s for most of the state and southerly winds gusting over 20 mph at times. A cold front will sag into northern Kansas by Tuesday afternoon but for most of the state will once again see highs above 80 degrees.

The warm stretch of weather will continue for a few more days before Kansas gets hit with another big change in the weather. Overnight, skies will be mostly clear with light winds from the south. Temperatures will fall into the upper 40s and 50s for low temperatures. Monday looks mostly sunny and continued warm. Highs are expected to reach the mid 80s for much of the state, and the wind may be a little gusty from the south. A cold front will drift into extreme northern Kansas Tuesday afternoon, but for most of Kansas, temperatures will be back above 80. Chances for showers and storms will increase Tuesday night and Wednesday as colder air filters south.

After a cloudy start to the morning, clouds will lift and sunshine will return to much of Kansas.  A Dense Fog Advisory is in place until 9A.M. for southwest Kansas and 10 A.M. for much of northwestern Kansas.  After the fog and low clouds move dissipate, Saturday looks absolutely gorgeous with sunshine and highs in the 60s and 70s.  The warmest temperatures will be found in the west, where some spots will flirt with 80 degrees in the afternoon. Clear skies tonight with morning lows dropping into the 40s and low 50s. Sunday will be even more spectacular with light winds and plenty of sunshine.  Highs will soar into the upper 70s and 80s.  The warmth will continue Monday and Tuesday before the next weather system arrives late Tuesday into Wednesday.  Unfortunately this system looks rather cool with temperatures expected to be well below normal.  The good news another chance of much needed moisture-especially Wednesday.

A quiet night is ahead for Kansas as clear to mostly clear skies prevail for most, although there could be a little patchy fog from the Flint Hills on to the east.  Overnight lows will drop to the 40s and 50s. We expect abundant sunshine on Sunday and afternoon highs look much warmer than Saturday.  We'll be near 80 degrees around Wichita with some middle 80s found in western Kansas.  Look for sunshine, a breeze and some high clouds on...

Areas of rain, and a few embedded thunderstorms, will move across Kansas from west to east throughout the day but severe weather is not expected.  Rainfall amounts will likely be less than half-an-inch.  The clouds and rain will hold temperatures down a bit as afternoon highs only climb into the upper-50s and lower-60s. Dry, warmer weather is expected for our weekend with highs in the mid to upper-70s Saturday and even some lower-80s for western Kansas Sunday. Next week will start off breezy, warm and dry Monday followed by another cold front and more rain/storm chances late Tuesday followed by much cooler temps Wednesday.
