Showers ventured across Wichita early Friday afternoon but reports in the city were less than a tenth of an inch. We expect more thunderstorms to develop late this afternoon and evening, especially in parts of western Kansas.  If you have plans to attend an area football game, it would be wise to bring the rain gear along. Showers and thunderstorms should diminish later tonight. Look for a partly cloudy sky Saturday with highs in the 60s and 70s.  Sunday looks pleasant as well with more 70 degree weather and partly cloudy skies.

The month of October ends on a dry note with cooler temperatures around the area. North winds were rather gusty Sunday afternoon, but they will ease after sunset. An approaching low pressure system will bring more clouds to the area on Monday, but it should stay dry. North winds will continue at 10-20 mph and temperatures should drop into the lower 60s for Monday afternoon. Although it may warm up briefly Tuesday, a strong push of cold, Canadian air will be headed this way by the end of the week.

After so many hot days with highs above 100, we'll get a little bit of a break with clouds and isolated storms through Wednesday evening. A weak area of low pressure in southern Kansas, combined with a stationary front over northern Kansas will bring a chance for scattered storms to the area overnight and again on Wednesday. Unfortunately, not everyone is going to get rain, but some of the isolated storms will dump brief heavy downpours. Some hail and gusty winds will be possible with stronger storms, but widespread severe storms are not likely.
