Two Wichita representatives say they couldn't avoid missing large chunks of this year's legislative session.  They were among seven state lawmakers a watchdog group called out this week over voting records.  It said those seven missed more votes than the rest of the House of Representatives combined. You send them to Topeka to vote for you.  But some didn't do that, hundreds of times over.  Among the top five house lawmakers who missed the most votes, Wichita Republican Leslie Osterman, who missed 163 votes, and Democrat Tom Sawyer, who missed 107. An estimated 1.5 million people had laser eye surgery to correct their vision last year, a procedure that's often not covered by insurance. Consumer Reports says the expense, along with the fact that you're dealing with precious eyesight, makes this a very important decision. The surgery itself is fairly simple. A laser is used to reshape the cornea, often reducing the need for glasses and contacts. A Consumer Reports Health survey of 793 adult Americans who've had laser eye surgery since 2001 shows 80 percent reported being "highly satisfied" with the results.

For those of you who have battled colds and sinus infections for most of the winter, relief may be in sight. For years, most people endured the pain of constant sinus infections - or the pain of surgery. But there's a procedure gaining ground in Kansas that promises to ease the pain of both.  The smell of cajun chicken fills the Mulcahy house, but the cook can't smell it.  For years, Ashley Mulcahy suffered with sinus infections .  "Really bad headaches," said Mulcahy, "sore throats, ear aches, fluid in your ears.

Balloon angioplasty is a nonsurgical approach to alleviating the blockage in an artery caused by plaque formation. Although mildly sedated, the patient is fully conscious during the procedure, with most patients noting a feeling of pressure discomfort - but no actual pain. Of course, this will vary depending on the patient's tolerance level. A small incision is made in the groin area where one of the major arteries of the body, the femoral artery, is entered. This site is chosen because complications are less likely to occur.

The Sedgwick and Butler County Sheriffs have just released new information on a shooting that sent a Sedgwick County Deputy and a suspect to the hospital Monday evening. It all started when the deputy saw a vehicle speeding and weaving in and out of traffic.  The deputy started following the white Cadillac and once the driver noticed the deputy he sped up.  A chase reached 90 to 120 mph and headed into Butler County on K-196.  The deputy described the situation on the radio and said the Cadillac started driving erratically.  When the deputy caught up with the vehicle, he realized the car was stopped and smoking and believed that the engine had blown.  The deputy said on the radio he believed the driver and a female passenger had gotten out of the vehicle.  The deputy then walked towards a hedgerow and minutes later he announced on the radio that he had been shot.
