Stitch by stitch, Kiersten Brandt is keeping busy. She and her group at Oddball Yarn are trying to meet a goal to make thousands of purple baby hats. "It's close to my heart, two of my four children had colic,” Brandt says. She knows newborns go through a period of crying that can be tough for parents. “I know how hard it could be to not know how to comfort your baby.” It's called the period of purple crying. The Kansas Children's Service League hopes purple hats will educate parents about it. The hats go home with new parents as they leave the hospital with their babies.

Genesis Health Club tells Wichita police that someone took $4,000 worth of food from the company. It happened at its Rock road location sometime between 6 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday. Police say someone broke a lock to a freezer located behind the business, then took the food.

He's walking, running and jogging thousands of miles across America. Jedediah Brown chose to make the trek to raise money for cancer research. "Cuz that's going to be something that effects everybody in life at one point in time or another," Brown said. "Whether you get it or know somebody that gets it. " He started the journey in Yorktown, Virginia, on April 6. He's now outside of Hesston, and he's been walking and running a marathon or more everyday. "My knees are kind of sore most of the time.

(WICHITA, Kan.) Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. It is about an 1/8 the size of Kansas, with a population of 8 million. Many Kansans have donated to people there in the past. They are reaching out to them again. Last month, thousands of people filled the El Dorado Civic Center to pack meals for Haitian school children. In all, Numana, Inc and the thousands of volunteers packed more than 285,000 pounds of food. But that food now has a new purpose -- it is now for everyone.

(WICHITA, Kan.) The history it holds is almost as great as its journey to get to where it sits today. The very first plane to be assigned to the United Staes Air Force was officially dedicated Saturday morning. "This is really pretty amazing, how good of a restoration they did on it, and they even said that it runs. So, that's even more amazing," explains Phillip Jordan. The Yard Store bought the Twin Beech Model 18 and restored it over the past few years, eventually putting on display on Mead Street between Central and First.

In the early 1950's a new kind of music called rock 'n' roll was taking over the airwaves. Girls in poodle skirts and guys in wing-tipped shoes danced to songs by Frankie Avalon and Elvis Presley . As Eyewitness News celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, a Kansas tradition also marks 60 years of pageantry. More than two dozen women are hoping to be crowned Miss Kansas Saturday. The hopefuls have been in Pratt this week practicing for the big event. But the competition is more than glitz and glamor. "I've gotten up at 5:30 every morning and don't get to bed until 12:30 at night so running on few hours of sleep," Kelsey Phillips said. Behind the scenes, its means making Kansas proud.

It was hard to see where the line ended. "If you wanted a meal, you waited," says Angela Aggisons. Some, up to three hours. But once they got to the front, those who walked up with nothing, walked away with everything for Thanksgiving dinner. Angela Aggisions came for her four kids. This holiday season, she's unemployed. "Its going to give us a meal for this holiday so i'm happy for that," says Aggisons. Angela was surprised by the amount of food she got to take home.
