Derby Roofing owes thousands of dollars to customers and creditors. . In June, Pat and Ed Standley hired Derby Roofing and gave the company a $2,200 down payment. They owner Michael Dipman cashed their check but never did the work. Since our story aired, the Standley's received notice from bankruptcy court that they've been added to a list of customers the company must pay back. There are 13 names listed. The company owes them $30,000 combined. That's on top of the almost $160,000 owed to creditors.

Westar power crews have restored power to all but a handful of 2,300 customers in west Wichita. The lights went out about mid-day Wednesday. ---------------------------- 3:00pm Wednesay More than 2,300 west Wichita residents were without power Wednesday afternoon. Westar Energy tells us it was caused by an equipment failure at a substation. The utility does not expect the outage to last long. One of the effects is the traffic light at Central & Ridge which is not currently working.

The game is over but the celebration continues. An estimated 100,000 people were in Lawrence Sunday for a parade honoring the national champion Kansas Jayhawks. Fans lined the streets hours before the parade hoping to get a good spot. The parade was led by the spirit squad and band. Coach Bill Self and members of the basketball team followed. Fans say they'll never get tired of celebrating the big win. "I was here in '88 also and it was incredible," says KU fan Marty Kennedy.

Thousands of fans filled Koch Arena in Wichita Friday to welcome the Shockers back after winning the NIT Tournament in New York. The team's chartered plane arrived in Wichita just before five o'clock. Fans were even waiting at the airport to welcome them back. The team had a police escort to Koch Arena and arrived to fans cheering and screaming. Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer talked about how proud the city was of the team's efforts. Coach Gregg Marshall and members of the team each spoke to the crowd and expressed their thanks for the support and how much the win means to them.

An estimated 330,000 computers worldwide, 77,000 of which are in the US, are infected wih the DNSChanger virus. According to the FBI, this virus is responsible for scamming millions of dollars away from people and on Monday the virus might keep these compuers from getting online. The DNSChanger was first discovered five years ago, and the scammers were arrested in their home country of Estonia. The FBI says they made approximately $14 million with the virus before being caught.

Bread of Life handed out the complete fixings for a turkey dinner Saturday in Wichita. Thousands of people turned out, some lining up before six o'clock in the morning. By Cliff Judy (BUTLER COUNTY, Kan.) You may have recently noticed Kansas Department of Transportation crews replacing hundreds of what look like perfectly good signs along Highway 254. KDOT tells us they were perfectly good 10 years ago and need to be replaced for safety. The thousands of highway signs replaced each year in Kansas cost of hundreds of dollars each. Eyewitness News continues to look into projects around the state, how much they cost, and how they affect you. Right now, Kansas Department of Transportation crews are replacing more than 1,000 highway signs in Sedgwick, Butler, and Harvey Counties.

Cattle all across Kansas struggle to survive the continuing heat and humidity. Tuesday, officials with Kansas Department of Health and Environment told Eyewitness News that 2300 cattle have died since late last week, in about 10 feedlots spanning from the Salina area to the Dodge City area. The biggest problem is the humidity, not the heat. Ken Powell, an environmental scientist with KDHE, says the deaths are overwhelming feedlots. They're following state regulations to get rid of cattle carcasses by burying them.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - The Kansas transportation secretary says federal stimulus money have brought more than 3,300 transportation jobs to the state. Deb Miller, secretary of the Kansas Department of Transportation, says the jobs have a monthly payroll of $4.4 million. The state received $378 million in federal funds for transportation projects. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that the transportation department says the stimulus package had created 3,375 jobs as of May, a 13 percent increase from April and a 47 percent increase since March.

The casino set to open next summer won't have any trouble finding employees. The Kansas Star Casino already received over four thousand job applications. Casino officials say most of those job seekers are primarily from the Wichita area. Jane Leedy applied for a job there. She says if she doesn't get that job, she hopes other work might come up because of the casino. "It's going to bring revenue into our community and it's going to bring in other restaurants and gas stations," she said.
