Wichita police are investigating after finding a three-year-old boy wandering around early Thursday morning in S. Wichita. A woman was passing by the area near Beech and Mt. Vernon when she noticed the youngster, who was wearing Spongebob pajamas. The boy couldn't tell her where he lived. A few hours later, police got a call from a woman who said the boy was staying with her and wandered off through the back door after she put him down for bed last night. Police say the woman provides overnight care for children, but they aren't sure if she's a licensed day care provider. Police don't believe it is a case of neglect and the boy was not hurt, but they are still investigating. The boy is in protective custody, though police have been in contact with the boy's parents.

It's why they're here, it's what they train for, but it's a situation no lifeguard wants. "Something this serious is really really rare," said the Superintendent of Aquatics for Hutchinson Recreation Ted Nelson. Saturday a two-year old boy was spotted in a three feet deep shallow pool at Hutchinson's Salt City Splash. He wasn't moving, wasn't breathing, and had no pulse. A team of lifeguards went to work. "They performed two person CPR for about a minute and the child regained consciousness," Nelson said.

Prosecutors say she was covered in bruises, and lost six teeth before going to the hospital. Tuesday a judge rules a couple will go to trial in the death of an El Dorado toddler. Alyssa Haag and Justin Edwards were in court for a preliminary hearing. They're charged with murder in the death of Haag's 18-month-old daughter Jayla. “Sometimes it sounded like things were hitting the wall. So I don't know if that would have been Jayla. Sometimes I would wake up and hear her crying and then she would just go silent and then I'd hear her gasping for air like she was being choked,” said roommate Jennifer Quarter.
