Temperatures are rising and so are the Kansas Lottery jackpots!  The estimated jackpot for tonight's Mega Millions drawing is $154 million with a cash option of $115.2 million.  Mega Millions is drawn every Tuesday and Friday. Powerball and Hot Lotto are both drawn Wednesdays and Saturdays.  The estimated Powerball jackpot for tomorrow night's drawing is $270 million with a cash option of $175.8 million.  The Hot Lotto jackpot is an estimated $6.11 million with a cash option of $4.72 million.

It's been busy at that Super 8 I-70 Hotel in Salina.  "Tomorrow night and Friday night we were booked with the wrestling tournament, pretty much full," general manager Mike Robinson said. But some teams, like El-Dorado high school, decided to bump up their reservations to beat the snow. "As long as we're here we know that if everything does go according to plan and everything takes off we'll be here ready to do that," El Dorado coach Wesley Reynolds said. "Instead of being in a different boat to where we might not have a chance to make it up here.

A storm system will approach the central and southern Plains on Tuesday, increasing the clouds and bringing a chance for rain showers to the area mainly Tuesday night. Clouds will gradually increase through the night and into Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 40s across western and extreme northern Kansas, with everybody else reaching the low 50s. Rain showers will slide across southern Kansas Tuesday night, but with temperatures staying above freezing, icy roads are not expected to be a problem for most areas.

We'll see mostly sunny across the state this afternoon as high clouds continue to drift in from west to east.  Highs will top out in the lower 50s. Clouds will be on the increase tonight and especially on Tuesday as the next storm system approaches.  Rain chances will enter the picture Tuesday night into Wednesday.  There will be a little light snow too in a few areas. We'll see mostly sunny skies, gusty northwest winds and highs in the 50s. Clouds will be on the increase overnight and tomorrow, with some flurries and sprinkles possible in northern Kansas Friday morning.  By afternoon, we'll have some sprinkle chances too in Wichita.  Highs tomorrow will be in the 40s and 50s. Plenty of clouds will be around the state today, along with a few sprinkles too.  A powerful cold front will race southeast, kicking up the winds.  A wind advisory is in effect today as northwest winds will increase to 20-35 mph and gusty behind the front.  Highs in the 40s and 50s are expected.  More sunshine and cooler temps will greet you for Saturday.  Highs will end up in the 40s tomorrow afternoon. The second half of the weekend looks better with highs in the lower to middle 50s. As we close out the month of January on Monday and Tuesday, readings will be near the 60 degree mark.

The fast moving weather system will work its way out of Kansas later tonight, taking the light snow and flurries with it.  Little if any additional accumulation will take place through the evening before colder temperatures prevail.  Lows will plummet to the single digits for lows in the northwest with teens and 20s elsewhere. We'll enjoy mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies on Wednesday.  You'll be reaching for the winter coat though with highs in the 30s. The mercury should slowly moderate by Thursday as highs return to the middle 40s.  Colder temperatures will work back into the area for Friday and Saturday with highs in the 30s and 40s.  A little bit of light snow will be possible Sunday and Sunday night over the state.

Under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies today, some melting will occur, however because of the deep snowpack, temperatures will only reach the upper 20s and lower 30s.  Winds should remain fairly light through the day. Rain and drizzle will be ending this evening over eastern Kansas.  Stubborn clouds will remain however, along with some areas of fog too.   A Dense Fog Advisory is out for parts of north central Kansas until Friday morning.  Lows will drop to the 20s, 30s and 40s. Winds will diminish tonight and combined with mostly clear to clear skies, we will see a cool night.  Low temperatures will drop to the low to mid 30s west to the low to mid 40s east. A Freeze Warning is out for southwest Kansas, including Garden City. Northwest winds will ramp back up on Thursday with gusts in the 45-55 mph range. A High Wind Warning and a Wind Advisory is out for parts of Kansas.  When you combine the wind with the dry conditions, the fire danger will be extremely high.  Temperatures Thursday will stay on the cool side, topping out in the 60s for most areas.

Clearing skies and lighter winds will mean a chilly night across the region with lows in the 40s and 50s! Sunny skies will be around all weekend long.  Highs tomorrow will be a mix of upper 70s and lower 80s with wind speeds generally under 15 mph. We'll start to warm up on Sunday, thanks to more sunshine.  Highs in the middle to upper 80s are forecast. Clear skies will be found all across Kansas tonight and tomorrow. Winds will continue on the light side over central and eastern Kansas while the west sees breezes in the 10-20 mph range with higher gusts. Lows tonight will be in the 50s in the west and 60s central and east. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the 90s statewide. Thursday looks mostly sunny and still hot with readings in the 90s again. Some clouds from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac will be found in the area on Friday, mostly over the eastern half of the state.

It'll be a good night for stargazing as clear to mostly clear skies prevail for Kansas.  Overnight lows will drop to the very comfortable upper 50s and lower 60s.  What a treat! Your Friday will feature sunny to mostly sunny skies and yes a warm afternoon, but certainly not blazing hot.  Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s, more typical for early August.  In Wichita, the Friday afternoon high should reach the 90 degree mark.  If you're curious, Wichita has not experienced an afternoon high of less than 90 degrees since June 22!

A very chilly night is expected across the Sunflower State as an area of high pressure settles overhead.  We'll have mostly clear skies and dry air in place, so expect some areas of frost late tonight and into mid-morning.  The coldest temperatures will be found in northern and western Kansas, where lows will drop to the lower to middle 30s!  If you have some potted plants outdoors, you might want to bring them indoors or cover them up.  For Wichita, we expect a low near 40 degrees, with upper 30s for Hutchinson and Newton.
