RG Flath came into the season looking to record three separate milestones. Before the weekend, he had reached two of those and was looking to complete the trifecta. His two-goal performance along with three power play tallies paced the Thunder (23-14-3) to a 5-4 victory over Tulsa (11-26-3) on Sunday afternoon at the BOK Center. Flath's second goal was his 100th of his career and also finished with three points on the night. Wichita improves to 5-2-0 against the Oilers this season and has another trip to Tulsa at the beginning of February.

Hitting the road for the seventh time in eight games, Wichita (22-14-3) got back on track with a 3-2 victory over Tulsa (11-25-3) Saturday night at the BOK Center. Matt Summers scored his sixth game-winning-goal of the season and helped the Thunder snap a three-game losing skid. Wichita moves back into second place with the victory and leads the season-series 4-2-0. Wichita broke a trend that has taken place over the last three games, all of which have resulted in losses and that was getting the first goal of the game.

The Wichita Thunder dropped their third straight game to Tulsa Saturday night, falling to the Oilers 4-1 at Intrust Bank Arena. Thomas Beauregard was the lone goal-scorer for the Thunder on Saturday night.  Goalie Ryan McDonald recorded 22 saves in the game. The Thunder are now 8-4 and are no longer leaders in their conference.  Wichita's next game is next Wednesday the 22nd against Missouri at Intrust Bank Arena.

Carl Hall finished with a double-double, 16 points and 11 rebounds, as Wichita State (7-0) dominated Tulsa (2-5) 86-60 at Koch Arena.  This was a 3 point game with just under 7 minutes to play in the first half and that is when Wichita State started to pull away.  The Shockers finished the first half on a 20-12 run, taking an 11 point lead at halftime. Wichita State steadily added to its lead in the second half and never let Tulsa back in the game.  Cleanthony Early was the second leading scorer for the Shockers with 11 points.  Overall, every Shocker that took the court during the game scored at least 2 points.

For the first time in more than 50 years, Wichita State will play a men's basketball game in downtown Wichita. Wichita State's Athletic Director announced Wednesday the Shockers will play Tulsa at INTRUST Bank Arena. “This is a partnership opportunity for WSU, Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita for the Shockers to play basketball in a great venue," said AD Eric Sexton in a news release. "INTRUST Bank Arena must also host a Division I basketball game this year as part of these same partners bringing the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament event to Wichita in the spring, so the Tulsa game made sense for a lot of reasons.

Kansas assistant coach Danny Manning has reached an agreement in principle to become the next head coach at Tulsa. "I'm excited and looking forward to being the head basketball coach at The University of Tulsa. I want to thank President Upham, Ross (Parmley) and the search committee for allowing me this tremendous opportunity to coach at a University with a fine basketball tradition," said Manning. "I'd also like to thank Coach (Bill) Self for giving me the chance to be a part of his staff for the past nine years.

They're looking for a time capsule buried 15 years ago. Problem is, the landscape has changed in that time. The capsule was buried by a pole, but the pole has since been moved. The Kansas Jayhawks are the second No. 1 seed and will be playing in the Southwest Regional. KU will face No. 16 Boston University in the second round on Friday, March 18 in Tulsa. Gametime is set for 5:50 p.m. and will be shown on TBS. Jenn Bates is traveling with the Jayhawks.  She's in Tulsa to cover the team practicing and pep-rallies. The Terriers are the champions of the American East Conference, after winning the conference tournament on their home floor Saturday against Stoneybrook.

Oklahoma will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA volleyball tournament. The Sooners (21-10) learned Sunday they will begin tournament play on Friday against Wichita State (21-7) of the Missouri Valley Conference. The other first-round match in Norman will pit Conference USA champion Tulsa (30-2) against Louisiana State (25-4) of the Southeastern Conference. LSU is the 13th overall seed in the 64-team tournament. The two winners will play Saturday, with the sub-regional champion advancing to the round of 16 in University Park, Pa. Oklahoma will make its seventh NCAA tournament appearance, with four of those coming under coach Santiago Restrepo.

Wichita State earned its first win of the season on Tuesday afternoon, beating Oral Roberts 5-4 in Tulsa.  This is the third straight time the Shockers have come away from Tulsa with a win. Wichita State was in a 2-0 hole after the 4th inning but they got on the board in the top of the 5th.  Mikel Mucha's sacrifice fly cut the Golden Eagles' lead to 1 in the 5th.  Then in the 6th Erik Harbutz singled to right field, scoring Johnny Coy...

Wichita (21-14-3) returned home for the first time in two weeks, but couldn't hold onto a third period lead and fell 4-2 to the Tulsa Oilers (11-24-3) on Friday night at INTRUST Bank Arena. Matt Robinson scored his first of the season since coming back to Wichita while Andrew Martens recorded two assists in the losing effort. Wichita leads the season-series 3-2-0 and will play the next two games in Tulsa. With the loss, Wichita has dropped its last three contests and will look to change things with its first trip this weekend to the BOK Center.

Wichita (16-7-2) thrilled the home crowd on Teddy Bear Toss Night, pulling away late from the Tulsa Oilers (8-12-2) with a 5-2 victory on Saturday night at INTRUST Bank Arena. Four different players found the back of the net for Wichita while Kevin Regan earned his 11th win of the season. Wichita leads the season-series 3-1-0 with a Sunday afternoon meeting tomorrow against Fort Worth to finish off a three-in-three for the second-straight weekend. Tulsa's Gary Steffes gave the Oilers the early lead with a goal at 10:11 of the first period.

Cleanthony Early led all scorers with 25 points as Wichita State beat Iowa 75-63 to win the Cancun Classic. Early was 3-6 from the three-point line, 7-13 from the field and 8-9 from the free-throw line against the Hawkeyes.  Wichita State was down by two at halftime thanks to a hot shooting peformance by Josh Oglesby.  Oglesby and the Hawkeyes were 7-8 from three-point range in the first half. The Shockers are off until next Wednesday when they host Tulsa.  The Golden Hurricane are coached by former Kansas assistant, Danny Manning.

Wichita fell behind early and couldn't recover, losing their home and season opener to the Tulsa Oilers, 4-3, on Friday Night at INTRUST Bank Arena. Matt Summers and Kevin Young led the way with two points for Wichita while David Beauregard and Gary Steffes paced the Oilers with two points as well. The Thunder return to action tomorrow night against Tulsa at 7:05 p.m.   The Oilers jumped out to a three-goal lead, getting scores from Michel Beausoleil, Steffes and Ben Gordon.
