IRVING, Texas - For the 11th time since in the inception of the Big 12 Conference, Kansas State has been picked to finish among the top three teams in the Big 12 North as the Wildcats have been tabbed third in the 2010 division race, according to the results of the annual preseason media survey conducted by the conference office. The third-place ranking in the preseason poll is the highest for a Wildcat team since also being picked third prior to the 2007 campaign, while the last time it was selected higher than third was in 2004 when the Wildcats were tabbed to win the division.

by Cliff Judy (WICHITA, Kan.) If the Big 12 folds, KU and K-State have yet to draw interest, at least publicly, from other conferences.  Just what conference Jayhawk and Wildcat recruits can look forward to playing in isn't known right now. KU head football coach Turner Gill held a one-day football camp Thursday afternoon for local prep players at Bishop Carroll High School.  Players had a chance to show off basic skills and run the 40-yard dash for coaches. While Gill didn't want to comment on the Big 12's current situation or possible conference realignment, he did tell Eyewitness News, "We are a Big 12 football team, and that's all we're here to do. " One local player says while the Big 12 rumors won't affect his play, it may affect his decision on where to play.

Head Coach Turner Gill Opening comments: “I appreciate people coming out today and it is good to see great interest in KU football. I first want to comment on our strength staff. They have done a tremendous job in our off-season program this summer. In the last four or five days of practice, I can see our strength staff did a great job of getting the players in shape. Our guys have done a great job coming together as a team and I see a great bond forming.  We are moving ahead in the right direction and have been moving well in the first week of practice.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Here we go, just about two minutes left til the start of the game.  Just like Bryan I'll try to give you updates every couple minute on how the game is progressing. First thought:  It is extremely disconcerting to see a mascot with its head off the costume.  However, it is also very hilarious to walk behind a random huge mascot that is just be-bopping along down the hall.  I mean it's not every day you see a huge green eagle just walking around! Just saw Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins and I stopped to say hi.  I asked him the usual question, Hey Lew, how are you doing?

Redshirt freshman quarterback Jordan Webb tossed three touchdown passes as Kansas upset No. 15 Georgia Tech, 28-25, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.   Webb, who earned his first career start versus the Yellow Jackets, spurred the Jayhawks to the win as Turner Gill collected his first victory as the head coach at Kansas.   The win, which snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Jayhawks, marked KU's first win over a ranked team since defeating 12th-ranked Missouri in the final regular-season game of the 2008 season.
