A page on Facebook has school district officials concerned. On it are videos of young people fighting and photos with comments that many say are offensive. The site says the fights are taking place inside South High School, and that the photos are of students at Wichita schools. The page has hundreds of friends, and the school district wants it taken down. It says the videos were not shot in South, and none of the students in the fights go there either. Regardless though, some students went to the principal of South about the page.

Susan Arensman with USD 259 joined us by phone on Eyewitness News This Morning on KSCW to discuss the district's policies for closing school. Arensman says the district works with weather consultants to make the decision. She says their main concern is the safety of the students. When side streets aren't clear, the buses run late. That leaves students outside while waiting for their bus for extended periods of time. When the temperatures and wind chills are low like they were Tuesday and Wednesday, kids are more at risk for frostbite and hypothermia.

For the first time Wednesday, parents can ask questions about changes coming to the Wichita School District, but there are still no details. The district will have to re-draw school boundaries, and some students may have to switch schools. The meeting showed that the process has been pushed back a few weeks. Superintendent John Allison promised parents it would be an open discussion. "Seems like it is early in the process," commented Doug Warren, a parent. "Seems like we don't know much, but hopefully that will change tonight.

By Eyewitness News (WICHITA, Kan.) A spokesperson with Wichita Public Schools says the district will no longer notify parents when there is a new confirmed case of a student infected with the H1N1 virus. In the past, USD 259 notified parents when a case of H1N1 was confirmed by KDHE. District spokesperson Susan Arnesman says for every confirmed case of the flu strain, there are dozens that go un-confirmed. The district says because H1N1 appears to be wide spread, and health and safety precautions are the same regardless of flu type, the district will no longer notify parents of individual cases.
