Wichita police are looking for at least two suspects after a jewelry store owner was mugged overnight.  It happened near the victim's home in the 800 block of W. Mt. Vernon. Police say the 61-year-old man closed his jewelry store in the 300 block of E. Harry and drove home late Tuesday.  When he got out of his car, he was carrying two bags from the store.  The victim was approached by two men who demanded the bags. One of the suspects was armed with what the victim described as a tazer-like device.  The suspect did activate the device, but did not attack the victim with it. The victim gave the bags to the suspects, who took off in a car. Police say the bags contained jewels, a handgun and a significant amount of cash.

Hip hop artist Sean Paul was the headliner at a concert at Doc Howard's in Old Town Thursday night. His concert drew a close to capacity crowd of about 1400 people. Security was tight, to help cut down an any violence. Doc Howard's is the largest night club in Kansas. It's one of only a few places in Wichita that can handle a crowd that big. Whenever it has a big concert, months of planning goes into security to try to prevent any problems. Every person who walks through Doc Howard's door is checked for ID and wanded by security guards.

A little more than a week ago, Justin Thull and two of his co-workers spent a beautiful Friday afternoon outside the Holy Land Mediterranean Grill on Douglas.  Thull ordered some hummus with beef "to-go" "It was 14 dollars and 46 cents I think,” Thull said. But when Thull checked his bank statement the following Monday, he noticed his leisurely lunch cost him 50-bucks more, $64.46. "I went by there Tuesday, and that's when the doors were locked, the lights were off, and nobody was there,” Thull said.

A Wichita man is charged with possession with intent to distribute more than a pound of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today. Rafael Piceno, 50, Wichita, Kan., initially was charged in a criminal complaint filed March 2 in U.S. District Court in Wichita. The complaint alleges that a detective with the Wichita Police Department who was working undercover made a deal to buy a pound of crystal methamphetamine from Piceno for $16,000. When police served a search warrant at Picneo's apartment in the 1800 block of South Bonn, they found one bag containing approximately a pound of crystal methamphetamine and another bag containing approximately a quarter pound of crystal methamphetamine.

Update: A five-year-old is recovering at home after being struck by a car Tuesday afternoon.   Police say the boy darted out into the street, and the driver who hit him could not stop in time.  No charges wlll be filed agains the driver. Police say the boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but has since been released. Note: Initial reports from the scene indicated the boy is six years old, we have since learned he is five. -------- A 5-year-old is in serious condition Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle.

Two brothers have been charged with robbing a bank in Wichita, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said today. Leslie B. Cooper, 33, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Justin W. Cooper, 22, are charged with one count of bank robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during the robbery. A criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Wichita alleges that on March 16, 2012, Justin Cooper drove his brother, Leslie, to Commerce Bank at 1701 S. Broadway in Wichita. Leslie Cooper entered the bank wearing a backpack, gloves, a scarf over his face, white shoes and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. He was carrying a Hi Point Model 995 9 mm rifle.

He's been one of the most recognized faces of the Wichita Police Department for decades. Now he's a civilian.  Monday was Lieutenant Ken Landwehr's last day on the job. City Hall hosted a retirement party to mark the occassion. Landwehr thanked his family, city leaders and his colleagues. He is best known for his role in the BTK investigation. Landwehr was involved in more than 6-hundred cases over his 35-year career. Lt. Ken Landwehr joined the police Department in October 1978 Served in Patrol, Vice, Narcotics, worked cold case for three years then Homicide till he was promoted in 1989 to the rank of Lt. He was a Supervisor in the Forensic lab for 2 years.

Wichitans: Need to fill out a police report, share tips or contact your area police patrol? There's an app for that. Wednesday morning, Wichita police unveiled their new smartphone app.  It's available on for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. You can use the app to send tips anonymously, find a substation, ask questions, look up department contacts and keep up with the latest WPD social media updates.  The police department has been very proactive in connecting with the community via social media networks said Officer Jerod Metcalf.  “The Department continues to develop ways to interact with the public, the My Police Department application is the latest avenue of communication.” The application is free and can be downloaded through the Android Market and on iTunes.  Search for "My Police Department" to download the "My Police Department", then set the app to display information from the Wichita Police Department.

The U.S. Attorney's office announced Monday that two men have been sentenced to federal prison for distributing heroin in Wichita. Jermaine Ward, 28, Wichita, Kan., was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison. Ward pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin, one count of distributing heroin and one count of using the U.S. postal service in furtherance of drug trafficking. His brother, Jamel Ward, 33, Wichita, Kan., was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison.

He's been missing since Wednesday night, now Kerry Smith is recovering at an area hospital. A spokesperson for the family says Smith was outdoors the whole time he was missing. Overnight temperatures were as low as 19-degrees, that's more than 10-degrees below freezing. Smith has severe frost bite but is expected to be okay. Police are not releasing any details about the crime suffered by Smith because the investigation is ongoing.   --- Wichita police are attempting to locate a missing man.  50-year-old Kerry Smith hasn't been seen since 10:00 Wednesday night.
