The Wichita Thunder announced this afternoon that tonight's game against the Allen Americans has been POSTPONED. Due to weather conditions in the Dallas area, the Americans were unable to make the trip to Wichita. All tickets purchased for tonight's game may be exchanged for any future Thunder game for the remainder of the regular season. Ticket exchanges must be made at the Wichita Thunder office. The game will be rescheduled to a later date. The Wichita Thunder will be back on the ice Friday to take on the Missouri Mavericks, they'll then host Quad City on Saturday.

The Wichita Thunder announced the signing of defenseman Daniel Tetrault and right wing Lance Galbraith on Friday. Tetrault returns to the Thunder after two successful years with the IHL's Port Huron Icehawks. The La Broquerie, Manitoba native scored 45 points last season for Port Huron which followed a 2008-09 campaign that saw him being named the IHL's Defenseman of the Year. Tetrault, who will be 31 on opening night, spent three seasons in Wichita from 2005-2008, scoring 30 or more points each year.

The Wichita Thunder have released their schedule for the 2012-13 season. The Thunder tied a franchise-high 44 wins last season, won a Berry Conference title, claimed the Bud Poile Governor's Cup and went to the CHL Finals for the first time since 1998. The Thunder will begin the season with a pair of home games on opening weekend, hosting the Quad City Mallards on Friday, October 19 and the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday, October 20. The Central Hockey League will feature one 10-team conference this season, known as the Berry Conference.

Matt Robinson collected his own rebound and scored the game-winning goal at 4:44 of overtime, sending Wichita to the CHL Finals for the first time since 1997-98 with a 3-2 win over the Texas Brahmas in Game Six of the Berry Conference Finals. Wichita wins the series 4-2 and will await its opponent between Fort Wayne and Missouri. The current owners of the Wichita Thunder filed a lawsuit against the former owners of the team last week in Sedgwick County Court. The lawsuit alleges that the former owners, WIHO LLC and Jeffrey Lund, hid important financial information from Steven Brothers Sports Management during the deal. According to court documents, WIHO and Lund hired people to erase files from the computers pertaining to the financial situation of the hockey team.

Wichita's Thunder Hockey team was purchased by a local brothers, Rodney, Brandon and Johnny Steven. Press Release from Wichita Thunder - A tight, defensive struggle entered the third period scoreless on Saturday night. Wichita tallied three in the final 20 minutes and pulled away from the Arizona Sundogs, winning 3-0 at INTRUST Bank Arena. Ian Lowe, Matt Summers and Les Reaney each scored for the Thunder while Torrie Jung earned his first post-season shutout of his career. Wichita takes a 2-0 lead in the series as the two teams will now travel back to Arizona for Games 3 and 4. The first two periods were a close checking affair with both teams not allowing much through the neutral zone.

They're not old enough to order a drink or even out of high school, but twin brothers Taylor and Scot Finch already made one of the biggest decisions of their young lives. "You get the chance to do a lot of things most people wouldn't ever get to do and see a lot of things people wouldn't get to see and protect the lives of your family and everyone back home that you care about," said Scot. The Winfield High School seniors were among a group of about 100 future soldiers sworn in to the U.S. Army during Friday's night Thunder hockey game.

Local young people will soon get a chance to be part of a new hockey league called the Junior Thunder. For the first time in the organization's 20-year history, the Wichita Thunder will found a new team in the Western States Hockey League (WSHL) and will begin play in the 2012-13 season. Wichita Thunder owners say the search is underway for the first Junior Thunder head coach. The team expects to make a coaching announcement in the coming weeks. The Junior Thunder is a partnership of Steven Brothers Sports Management LLC and will be operated by the Thunder organization in addition to the parent Central Hockey League club.

Rapid City (19-18-5) took an early 2-0 lead but the Wichita Thunder (26-14-3) battled back, scoring 5 unanswered goals to win the team's 5th straight game. R.G. Flath scored twice in the game with Matt Robinson, Neil Trim and Andrew Martens also adding one goal each. Goalie Torrie Jung earned his 13th win of the season.
