The Wichita Wild traveled to Grand Island, Nebraska to open the 2011 season, but came home with a loss, 70-59. The Wild never led the game, starting out with a 20-0 deficit.  Nebraska held a 40-23 advantage at the half. New starting quarterback Alex Rouse left the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury.  No news is available at this time regarding his status.

On Tuesday afternoon the Wichita Wild removed the interim tag from Morris Lolar's title and named the Wichita native to the full-time head coaching position of the Wichita Wild.  Lolar led the team to a 6-3 record over the final nine games of the season after taking over after the Wild started the 2011 season 0-5.  Lolar will also continue serving on the coaching staff at Friends University. Lolar had been a defensive assistant for the Wild since 2009 and is the fourth head coach in Wild history.  Lolar was a two-time first team All-American defensive back for Friends University and All-City player at Wichita South.  He was the final cut of the Kansas City Chiefs in training camp prior to the 1993 NFL season.  Lolar went on to play professionally for six years in the Canadian Football League.  His first four years in Canada he played for the Edmonton Eskimos (1993-96)

The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) continued to build a very formidable defense on Wednesday with the signing of Rashad Washington to a contract for the 2011 season.  Washington is a Wichita native and played collegiately at Kansas State.  Washington is the seventh defensive player from a Division I college to sign with the Wild for 2011.  From 2004 to 2007 Washington played in 48 games at strong safety for the NY Jets.  He compiled 64.5 tackles in his career with his career high coming in 2006 when he played in all 16 games and recorded 28.5 tackles.

Former University of Kansas and Salina Central running back Jake Sharp has signed to play football for the Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League in 2011. Although injured for most of his senior season, Sharp still managed to put his name in the record books at Kansas.  In his four years with the Jayhawks Sharp ran for 2,239 yards (10th in school history) and 23 touchdowns (tied for third). Sharp was a member of the 2008 Kansas team that beat Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl.

Saturday was the very first game on the newly-formed Salina Bombers schedule. They played the Wichita Wild. Fans flocked to the Bicentennial Center for a chance to catch the indoor football game. "We want to see what it's going to be like, we've seen it on T,V of course, but when you go to a real football game it's different," Com Russell said before his very first indoor football team. " Once the fans entered the arena they were entertained with music before the game started.

The Wichita Wild (9-1) completed a season sweep of the Salina Bombers (5-3) with a 45-40 victory in front of 3,624 fans in Hartman Arena. Wichita quarterback Rocky Hinds led the Wild with five touchdowns, four through the air and one on the ground and running back Tywon Hubbard pitched in 261 all-purpose yards and one touchdown. Defensive back Kendrick Harper led the Wild with three interceptions on the night to stifle the Bombers' offense. For the majority of the night, both teams battled in a close game.

A former Wichita police officer and Wichita Wild football player was charged with sex crimes against a child Friday. Thirty-one year-old Gregory Nicks was charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties. He was booked into jail Friday. The Maize police chief Matt Jensby tells Eyewitness News that Nicks' wife alerted authorities.  Nicks worked for the police department for about three and a half years.  He was also once a teacher in Lawrence.  He played football at Butler Community College, KU and also for the Wichita Wild.

Newly acquired quarterback Phil Staback connected on 24 of his 28 passes, throwing for 241 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Wichita Wild won their second game in a row 51-14 over the Bricktown Brawlers. Wichita picked up Staback a little over a week ago and he threw two touchdowns in his debut with the Wild.  Staback has now thrown 6 touchdowns in two victories with Wichita. Wide receiver Donald Fusillier grabbed two of those touchdowns off 9 catches for 55 yards.  Wichita is back home next Saturday at Hartman Arena to take on the Omaha Beef.

After starting the season with an 0-4 record, the Wichita Wild have done the improbable by advancing to the second round of the Indoor Football League playoffs.  The Wild defeated the Allen Wranglers on the road on Monday night, 43-40. That was the fifth time that Wichita had played Allen and it was the third straight win for the Wild against the Wranglers. The Wild advances to face the Intense Conference regular season champion Tri-Cities Fever this coming Friday at 9:05 central time.

The Wichita Wild (8-1) completed a season sweep over the Oklahoma Defenders (2-6) with a 73-7 win Saturday night in Hartman Arena in front of a crowd of 3,600 plus. Wild quarterback Rocky Hinds and running back Tywon Hubbard combined for a total seven touchdowns on the night. Defensive back Kendrick Harper led Wichita's defense against Oklahoma with a game high nine tackles and one interception which he returned for a touchdown. The Wild offensive showcase began two plays into the game with Hubbard taking off for a 27 yard touchdown run to hand the Wild an early 7-0 lead.

The Wichita Wild (6-1) and the Omaha Beef (4-1) entered Saturday night battling for first place in the CPIFL, with Wichita earning a 29-17 victory over Omaha to clinch the spot atop the CPIFL standings. Quarterback Rocky Hinds led the Wild to a win with an outstanding performance on the night including three touchdowns, two through the air and one on the ground. The Beef started the opening drive on the Omaha five yard line, courtesy of a touchback by Wild kicker Alex Fambrough.

The Wichita Wild (5-1) returned to their winning ways in Bloomington against the Edge (2-3) Saturday night in a final score, 49-35. Most notably, Tywon Hubbard's return to the field this week after his absence in the Wild's loss to the Kansas City Renegades last week proved the importance of his role on the team with two touchdowns on the night as well as a fantastic special teams performance. Joe Kassanavoid and Tim Simmons also tallied two touchdowns apiece on the night to help lead the Wild to a huge victory over the tough Edge.

The Wichita Wild Professional Indoor Football Team of the CPIFL, Champions Professional Indoor Football League, is proud to announce the re-signing of Defensive End, Matt Moss, for the 2013 season.  Moss was named the 2012 IFL Co-Defensive Player of the year and added to the 2012 All-IFL Defense Team with the Wild last season.  During his 2012 campaign with the Wild, Moss led the IFL with 15 sacks, 29 tackles and 4 forced fumbles.  Moss played...

Starting next March Salina residents will have a new team to root for. The city's first indoor football team will be part of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League. The team will be owned my Indoor Game Production, Inc. "Salina is a football town," Jake Sharp PR director of Indoor Game Production, Inc. "That little boy, that little girl that's been wanting to watch football in the spring when there's no Central or South games. We're going to offer them that opportunity.

Salina's Bicentennial Center could be the home to a new arena football team. According to Champions Professional Indoor Football League commissioner Janes Bain, Salina has been approved to be in the newly formed CPIFL league. As of now, there are eight teams, including the Wichita Wild. However, the move is not official for Salina just yet. The Bicentennial Center is still working out a lease with a potential owner. " Currently we our in the negotiation process," said general manager Chris Bird.

The Wichita Wild Professional Indoor Football team has come to terms with Running Back Tywon Hubbard for the 2013 season. As a rookie out of Central Missouri, Hubbard quickly established himself as one of the top players in the league. He burst onto the indoor football scene leading the league with 2,325 all-purpose yards while racking up 25 total touchdowns for the Wild.   Wild General Manager John Blazek expressed his excitement bringing Hubbard back for 2013. “Tywon is an outstanding playmaker who is clearly one of the best Running Backs in the league.
