It's been a decade since they left town, and now they are back. On Thursday,the commissioner of the Major Indoor Soccer League, David Grimaldi confirmed that the Wichita Wings will be the next expansion team and the team will play at the start of next season. Grimaldi says he's been in talks with investors who he says are "100% committed to bringing the Wings back to Wichita. " He would not identify who the investors are as some details of the deal have not been finalized, including where the team will play.

Wichita's newest professional sports franchise is starting to build its team. The Wichita Wings held open tryouts Saturday morning. More than a hundred people turned up hoping to make the cut for the indoor soccer team. The final roster will be announced in a few months. The team is already selling season tickets on its website. Team management says it's already received 600 reservations.

The Wings are looking for an owner as of Tuesday. The Wichita indoor soccer team announced on their website that Wink Hartman and the Hartman Group have owned the team since 2010 and resurrected the francise in 2011. Wichita finished 7-19 in the 2012-13 season, dead last in the Major Indoor Soccer League or MISL. In the statement, the team said, "the timing of the announcement coincides with an internal review within the overall Hartman Group of companies and is designed to shift the ownership to a group that can dedicate its primary focus and resources towards the operation of the MISL team in Wichita.

Soccer fans will get their first chance to see the Wichita Wings Wednesday afternoon. The reactivated indoor soccer team will be playing a free game today at Hartman Arena. It's being called the First Annual Black and Orange Scrimmage. Admission is free to season ticket holders and to fans bringing a donation of non-perishable canned food. All items will be donated to the Kansas Food Bank. The game will start at 6:30, doors will be open at 5:30. The Wing's season starts on November 3rd.

The Wichita Wings indoor soccer team will spring into action at Hartman Arena.  Their first home game is November 3. It's been a decade since they left town. On Wednesday, we expect to learn more about whether the wichita Wings will be coming back. Officials with the Major Indoor Soccer League confirmed they've been talking with a group investors to revive the team. On Tuesday, Eyewitness news learned that there's a new - additional - investor involved in the talks. The league's general manager may have more information tomorrow. The wings folded in 2001.

The Wichita Wings Indoor Pro Soccer team and Head Coach LeBaron Hollimon will be holding open tryouts for an opportunity to be a member of the 2011-2012 team on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31.    The tryout will take place at Hartman Arena in Park City, KS.   Registration and warm-up will begin Saturday at 8:00 am with the tryout starting at 9:00 am.  Participants are not guaranteed an invitation to return on...

Louis McCluer got on his computer and saw an email from the Wichita Wings. He's a fan from the defunct indoor soccer team, so he clicked on it. "It says 'hey Wings fans, get a jump on your up coming return of your Wichita Wings by joining us,'" he says. The link in the email took him to wichitawings.com, a web site selling t-shirts with the original logo of his favorite team. "They look like the old shirts," he says. Andrew Hoxie's hat trick against his former side helped propel the Wichita Wings to a 14-11 victory on Friday night. Hoxie scored the first goal of the night for the Wings to tie Rochester at 2.  He also scored late in the fourth quarter to help seal the win for the Wings.  Adrian Gonzalez followed less than two minutes later to give Wichita its first lead. Hoxie scored again to put Wichita back in front and Miguel Ferrer pushed their lead out to 8-5 at the close of the first half.

Despite a convincing effort, the Wichita Wings (1-4) fell to the undefeated Baltimore Blast (6-0) Friday evening in Hartman Arena; final score 15-8. Both Wings forward, Freddy Moojen and Blast forward, Michael Millwood were leading scorers for the night with four points each for their respective clubs.       Wings players started the game in front of an electric crowd, eager to hand the Blast their first loss of the season. Baltimore, however, broke the home crowd's momentum with the first goal of the night by Pat Healey to make it 2-0, Baltimore.

In what would turn out to be a tight match between the Wichita Wings and the Syracuse Silver Knights Sunday afternoon in Hartman Arena, the Wings pulled out their first win of the season in overtime against the Silver Knights off a Freddy Moojen 2-point goal for the go-ahead win; final score 8-6. A true team effort was on display for the Wings with scores from Hoxie, Geison, Ferrer and Moojen including multiple assists from Tiguinho. The Wings started on defense, but slowly gained control of the ball and in less than two minutes into the game found their first points courtesy of Andrew Hoxie, current scoring leader of the team, to put the Wings up 2-0 with an assist from Tiguinho.

At the start of the game Sunday afternoon, it seemed as though the Wichita Wings had returned with a fiery vengeance against the rival Comets. After Friday night's match, the Wings were ready to perform in front of what ended up being 2,600 fans at their season home opener. Andrew Hoxie, scored the first goal within minutes of the game's start, leaving the Wings with a 2-0 lead. Nearly nine minutes into the game, Hoxie scored again, putting the Wings up 4-0. This goal was answered by the Comets' forward, Mads Falk shortly after, cutting the Wings' lead in half.  Comets midfielder Assadpour would then tie the game at 4-4 with 4:41 left in the first quarter.

The Wichita Wings Indoor Soccer team continues to build their roster this offseason by bringing in experienced players to gear up for a MISL Championship run. Miguel Ferrer and Andrew Hoxie have agreed to personal terms to join the Wings this season, however the additions are pending league approval. Second year Head Coach, LeBaron Hollimon, focuses on adding experience and goal scoring ability to the Wings lineup, “As we move into our second year, experience is something we have targeted and Andrew and Miguel are both experienced yet young talented indoor professionals.” Miguel Ferrer spent last season with the Norfolk Sharx, formally of the MISL.

The Major Indoor Soccer League announced on Tuesday that Wichita Wings forward Kevin Ten Eyck had been named the league's Player of the Week for the final week of the 2011-12 regular season. Ten Eyck had 10 points in two games, including a hat trick in the Wings' final game of the season. Ten Eyck helped the Wings close out their season on a high note against Norfolk this past Sunday. With Wichita trailing the SharX 11-4 late in the third quarter, the 25-year-old fired in a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining before the intermission to pull his side within two goals.

Trailing the Milwaukee Wave 13-0 going into the fourth quarter, The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) grit their teeth a went to work. A lack of Offensive power over the first three quarters had the Wings in far reach from a second W over the weekend. But time would quickly tell that Wichita was not completely out of the game.  The Wave led from a multitude of goals from players in the first three quarter, including big goals by Ian Bennett, JP Rodrigues, and Evan McNeley.  Onlookers at the US Cellular Arena had clearly written off the Wings long before the game was actually over.
