The Wichita School District is considering spending $3 million to upgrade its security system. The issue will go before the school board tonight. Be sure to keep with Eyewitness News for any updates as they become available. "It's absolutely vital. I mean, we have to maintain the safety and security of our buildings," said Wichita School Superintendent John Allison. With analog cameras, aging modems and a piece meal system, Allison says it's time to upgrade and streamline the system for safety and education.

Wichita School Board president Lynn Rogers voiced his opinion on the future of Southeast High School Monday night. “My concern is we don't have the money to run both schools. We only have the money to build them unless there's a cost cut elsewhere,” says Rogers. In Monday's meeting Rogers said he wanted to remove the option before taking the issue to the community. Brian McMillin broke a tie game three minutes into the third period to help pull the Allen Americans (10-6) even in the CHL Finals, winning Game 4 on Sunday afternoon over Wichita (10-2) by the final of 2-1 at INTRUST Bank Arena. Matt Summers scored the lone Thunder goal, his first since Game 2 of the Fort Worth series. The Finals will shift to Allen on Tuesday night tied at two games apiece. There was a feeling out process at the start of Game 4 as both teams were a little bit more defensive-minded.

A well-known Wichita pastor suddenly stepped down after more than a decade of leading the church. Marty Freeman, senior pastor of Believer's Tabernacle resigned Sunday. Eyewitness News heard from several members of Freeman's congregation, but attempts to reach him or the church have been unsuccessful. Several members of the church have said Freeman talked about "issues" involving the church before announcing his resignation. His personal website says "he loves God's church" and that the past 11 years have been "quite a ride.

Greger Hanson and RG Flath paced Wichita (10-1), recording points on the first three Thunder goals en route to a 5-2 victory in Game 3 of the CHL Finals on Saturday night over the Allen Americans (9-6) at INTRUST Bank Arena. Hanson and Flath had three points each while Torrie Jung earned his 10th win of the post-season. Wichita takes a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 tomorrow afternoon in Wichita. For the second time in the series, Wichita jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the opening period.

Some Wichita teens are living their dreams a little sooner than most. A program at the high schools teaches students how to become emergency responders. Saturday, they used a friendly competition to become the best firefighters. The teens are getting a head start on their careers. Greg Peters, South High senior, said he is following in his father, Greg's, footsteps. "In actual fire scenes and stuff you're pumped with adrenaline, you're running through," the younger Peters said.

Traffic on the northwest side of town could be heavy Saturday morning---which is why the sheriff's office is warning people to take it easy. There are several high profile events going on around the zoo and park. Drivers are asked to avoid 21st and Zoo Boulevard due to major engagements. Sedgwick County park will host a 5k run, the Sedgwick County Zoo will feature "World Penguin Day" and the Farmer's Market opens at the Sedgwick County extension building. Some that live in the area say it's a busy time but also a fun one. "It will be busy but spring is here and this is the time to get out and moving.

A Wichita native is a finalist for the job of a lifetime...in Australia. Cameron Ernst is part of a competition for Tourism Australia, promoting what it calls "The Best Jobs in the World. " Ernst who grew up in Wichita and went to Andover Central High School applied for the Chief Funster job. "It's what it sounds," says Ernst. "Being a V.I.P. in Sydney and going to events and festivals and being a social media guru. " That's one of the six "best jobs" positions open in Australia.
